We might find out. There is a lot of talk of the SEC and Big 10 leaving the NCAA.

The AJHL is searching for lawyers to kick out the 5 teams. You know you might be in the wrong when you can't find a lawyer that agrees with you.

This doesn't compute.

They dont need to kick them out, they are leaving voluntarily.

More likely the league is looking for a way to get compensated for the clubs leaving which would be a much tougher road if it isn't explicit in the leagues charter/bylaws.

I think he means a lawyer that will find a way for them to not be in the wrong for what they are currently doing to those 5 teams.

It is my understanding that it's the 11 teams who have banded together and are refusing to play the 5 leaving. This puts the league in a really tough spot. They are forced to either declare a forfeit and award points to leaving teams, effectively penalizing your remaining teams - or do what they currently are and doing and cancel/postpone the games.

This is like the European Super League proposal all over again.

I saw that put forward by someone...a scout or something.
What makes me disbelieve that is a team like Canmore, has I think 5 home games remaining against the Leave teams. Thats a lot of money for them to leave on the table.

CJHL now just pretending that the five teams don't exist. Top-ranked AJHL team this week is, uh, Whitecourt.

And yet the CJHL twitter profile header is a picture of Brooks winning the championship last year.

Guy behind that account played in the AJHL for Spruce Grove

@worldhockeyrpt:
Strong possibility the five former AJHL teams part ways immediately from Hockey Canada and finish off the season in the BCHL… still two months left in the regular szn with 15-22 games per team remaining + playoffs.

The BCHL should immediately kick Cranbrook out of the league because nobody likes them.

Question:
Presumably every player on these 5 teams immediately become ineligible to play in any Hockey Canada sanctioned event. And if they are not within the realm of Hockey Canada anymore can other junior teams (AJHL, SJHL etc.) still make trades etc. with them? Do players have any say if this is the case? Just wondering how it works now moving in/out or Hockey Canada sanctioned teams. Also assuming these 5 teams just lost every affiliate player they had?

There is a deadline in September that a play can't play unsanctioned hockey.

Regarding affiliate players there is a date in January where a Midget AAA player who's called up can't go back to Midget, he has to stay up with the Junior club.
