Yeah I was replying to Res.
I think the Commies still have the Synder stink on them so it will take time for that to get washed off.

Late to the party but as a Steelers fan I absolutely despise the Arthur Smith hire. Jonnu is going to inevitably sign here, Freiermuth will be irrelevant and Washington will be pushed down even further. Najee probably expands his role as he is much more Smith's type than Warren is. Can't wait for another 9-8 season where we don't score over 20 points ever

Maybe they’re being by overly particular? Your points make sense but it feels like total radio silence on that job. I mean more so than the standard ignoring or warshington that we all do.

Wonder if maybe he has an idea of somebody from the 49ers...the new GM was the 49ers AGM since 2017 so quite possible that he might have somebody in mind but wouldn't really be pursuing them until after the season.

If they were interested in anyone on the 49ers surely they would have interviewed someone by now, at least. But it seems like they are just being overly cautious on this. Why? Not sure really, the new owners have inherited tons of goodwill from simply not being Dan Snyder, they should be fine to mess up this hire.

Fed Ex Field is about as good as McMahon. That won't fix itself anytime soon.

Obviously not the sexiest hire for Seattle, but the guy has been with Baltimore for 10 years and Harbaugh, so that by itself speaks volumes, not a guy jumping from team to team to slowly climb a ladder before proving oneself.
Defense was Seattle's identity through the 2010's, though that was helped by PC and JS arriving and creating competition and coaching guys up that were left for scrap by other teams. When the strong secondary finally got some LB and a pass rush, is when they went onto back to back Superbowls.
Defense has been average since Quinn left and they couldn't spend as much on defense with Wilson's contract. Last few years has been terrible and really let the team down at critical points.
Obviously he will bring the defensive, but with all first time coordinators turned head coach, he will need a seasoned OC to help him on that side, but also navigate the head coaching transition.
No one will replace PC with the energy and exhuberance and guy he was to players, and the way the team has operared these last 13 years is around what PC created. That can't instantly go away so hopefully McDonald can make sure the transition to him goes well, and coach and set up a solid defense as he did in Baltimore. Seattle has a lot of resources and a good league reputation to work with.

Not a sexy hire? Pretty well all season Macdonald has been touted as one of the top young head coaching prospects. I don't think there was a sexier young coach out there after Johnson. Seems like a pretty seamless hire bringing in another defensive coach after Carroll. You never know if these guys are ready until they are hired but there's little doubt this guy knows how to run a really good defense.

Seems like taking that job was for someone who was desperate to get a head coaching gig.
Cowboys are in for big surprise next season when McCarthy isn't carried by his QB or assistant coaches.

Quinn is a strange one. His defense in Seattle was great. When he was head coach in Atlanta his defenses were terrible. Back to DC in Dallas and his defense was great.

He's probably a bit of a safe hire for a rebuilding team TBH.
Can help establish a bit of a culture and set the framework...but probably not the guy you'll win a super bowl with eventually.

HENDERSON, Nev. -- The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to hire former Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury as their offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.
Kingsbury, 44, was one of four candidates who interviewed for the vacant position during the past two weeks, along with Luke Getsy, Alex Van Pelt and Mike Sullivan.

Again, Carroll's strength was coaching up and talent evaluation and getting outcasts to pull together. Defense obviously first, but him getting the most out of players, and then, moving on from them a year before other teams would, made them ever evolving.
That attitude isn't going away as most of the organization adopted that these last 12 years.
But, they need the talent on defense, and that's part of what's been missing, besides DCs after Quinn that really didn't work. Blowing dough on Jamal Adams hasn't helped either these last years; I always thought that an odd move for a PC and JS team.
Again, OC will be huge, and have to figure out what they will do at QB...Geno or move.on.

Here's a name I never thought we'd hear was back in the game. Marvin Lewis also joins the Raiders as an assistant coach.

Marvin Lewis is back in the NFL.
The former Bengals coach, who worked in Cincinnati from 2003 through 2018, has agreed to join the Raiders as assistant head coach, per a source with knowledge of the situation.

Kyler Murray regressed every year after his rookie season under KK. The rushing offense was good under him, but he ranked in the lower-half of the league in passing offense in 3 out of the 4 years he coached for the Cardinals.
He's also largely been garbage at the college level.

My buddy is a diehard cardinals fan (for some reason). If this follows Kliff’s past the first third of the season raider fan will be crowing about how amazing Kliff is and how good it looks. Around the halfway mark that sentiment is going to change and by the end of the season they’ll be livid about the gameplay and lack of adaptability.

I followed the Cardinals quite a bit when Kliff was the coach because I had Kyler Murray in fantasy for most of those years. His in-game adjustments make Brian Johnson look like Andy Reid.

The available names of offensive coordinators available are guys like Luke Getsy, Alex Van Pelt, Thad Lewis, Mike Sullivan, Chip Kelly, and Frank Reich. Feel free to let me know which one of those blue chippers is a slam dunk to be a better OC. Kellen Moore's offense in LA left a lot to be desired last season if you want to start picking at OC flaws.

Not sure dropping Moore's name is the dunk you think it is. I wasn't particularly thrilled about that hire either.
That said, I'll put Lurie's hiring track record up against Mark Davis' any day of the week.
