Murray Edwards.

I doubt it. After the Zadorov trade, Conroy specifically mentioned using salary retention as a way to generate assets at the TDL.

According to Canucks media guy, Rick Dhaliwal, who generally appears to have a lot of connections around the league, mentioned recently that Murray directed Conroy to not trade Zadorov in division but the trade went through anyway because the Flames did not have to retain anything, while for the Leafs, they would have had to retain.

Edit - I re-read the tweet so had to revise what I wrote as it appears my memory is terrible.

Conroy has said multiple times that he can retain. Not sure why’d he lie rather than just saying nothing

Wasn’t it more that Tre wasn’t offering enough to retain

That’s what I figured. Not sure why dissentowner saying Murray Edwards would veto retention on Tanev

I think Treliving used to say that he had permission to always spend to the cap, with carte blanche....

Maybe Carolina is doubting whether they'll be able to sign Morrow so they're throwing him in as a sweetener. He's currently in his 3rd year of college.

Morrow has 85 points in 94 games in 3 seasons in the NCAA as a defenseman.

If you could gain some confidence that he would sign with the Flames this year, hell yeah, I'd do that deal. Another right shot stud on D? All of a sudden, the Flames would be flush on the right side of the defense while fixing the hole down the middle.

Hard to believe Carolina would make that deal but who am I to argue with them?

Yup, if they want to hang themselves, we'll give them plenty of rope.

I do not believe the Flames would be all that interested in traded Sharkbait. Even in a trade for a Necas.

Seems like Conroy is perfectly happy taking on misfit toys and keeping them. Besides wasn't there talk of a long term extension already in place for Sharkbait in the chance he panned out?

IMO, the player on the way out is Mangiapane.

Conroy mentioned that he spoke with Kuzmenko and/or his agent, and said that he would get PP time and would get opportunity. And that is what Kuzmenko wants, so he agreed.

On expiring contracts? I am sure they would. Retaining 50% of Coleman's contract for 3 more years? Not likely.unless you meant only retaining on Tanev and then I misread it.

Kadri and Weegar aren’t going anywhere.
