Lindholm's isn't far behind.
Shaping up to be a 1st, prospect projecting like a 1st, former 3rd rd pick, 3rd/4th, and an offensively gifted roster player.
Mind you Jeannot isn't worth anywhere near what he got, while it's at least closer for Lindholm.

Has to be a solid return offer for Markstrom in order for Conroy to talk to him about waiving his NTC.
To New Jersey: Markstrom (30% retained)
To Calgary: 2024 1st round pick (top 10 protected) + 2024 conditional 3rd round pick (becomes a 2nd round pick if the Devils make the playoffs)
That would be the best return anyone has seen for a goalie in years. The devils get some decent protection on their picks. Flames would love it if the devils struggled down the stretch and ended up with a pick at 11th overall… even if means the 3rd does not become a 2nd.

I can see Markstrom waiving for NJ. That's a team that can do some damage when healthy and have a goalie like Marky in net. They're a situation he'd be interested in IMO.

That doesn't get it done from the things I have heard, it will take more than that to pry Markstrom out of here.

I think Guentzel sees a sinking ship there and is moving on. The window is getting slammed close on that team for quite a while going forward.

I believe the cost to get the Markstrom ball rolling will be a 1st, an A prospect or young player equivalent, and a B prospect.

Hopefully NJ gets desperate in the coming weeks and their goalies remain pumpkins.
If a trade is made it will be because someone acts on impulse and calls Craig after a sleepless night.
Such a thing has been known to happen though. Stay tuned..

If so, I really can’t see a team stepping up to pay the price. That is a really good return for any goalie… let alone one that is 34 years old and has pretty consistently alternated good seasons with bad seasons over the last 5 years.

Not trying to be negative but I can’t see that being given up for Markstrom. I would absolutely LOVE to be wrong though.

Holtz/1st + Vanecek for Markstrom makes too much sense IMO

I can't help thinking Conny has a plan to get young center. No way he leaves that hole at C despite our conventional thoughts that it can be filled from within the organization.
That Vancouver pick might go for one.

Markstrom better go to the East.
LA and COL both needs goaltender but I'm afraid Markstrom may struggle against Oilers.

I'm thinking Zary gets a good long look at C before he tries that.

I do have a feeling that they have had lots of discussions with New Jersey on Markstrom...but that the are really stead fast on Mercer as the return.

So, Alexander Holtz (RW), Lenni Hämeenaho (RW), and a 1st? Would you give up Zary, Honzek, and a 1st for Markstrom? I think the answer is obvious.

Lindholm traded for D prospects, so I hope Hanifin traded for F prospects, preferably C position.

Yeah that's too much and would be the biggest return for a goalie in a trade since the lockout I think.
An in his prime Cory Schneider received a single 1st round pick (top 10 pick but still).
I think if you could get one good piece then you're laughing. If you could get Mercer, Holtz or their 2024 1st (could be a top 15 pick) + Vanecek then you'd be laughing, and anything on top of that is just being greedy.

I don't either which is why I have said I don't think Markstrom moves this season.

They can be greedy though because it isn't an asset they have to move nor particularly want to at this time. That can change after the season is over but you might as well try and take someone to the woodshed if they really want to try and acquire him.
