I am very much enjoying two Canuck fans battling each other and arguing about this trade.

Our power play completely blows chunks, adding Kuzmenko should help. He can rifle the puck and has undeniable skill.
I know his speed isn't exactly his strong suits but you have the chance to choose his matchups 5v5.
Give the hard match ups to the Kadri and Backlund lines and shelter Hubby-Sharky-Kuzmenko.
If he clicks, you either keep him or trade him next year for more assets.
As far as buy low candidates go, you can't ask for much better.

Kuzmenko @ even 50% the level of care is better than a mentally checked out Lindholm who wanted nothing to do with CGY since the summer.
It's a win.

reclamation project in Kuzmenko who might turn into a valuable deadline asset in 2025
really good right-handed D prospect in Brzustewicz
another D prospect in Jurmo (more of a long shot, but why not)
1st round pick (no condition and in 2024)
another draft pick
that's a good deal. The Athletic floated Kuzmenko + Höglander + 1st a few days ago ... in reality, it's Brzustewicz + Jurmo + conditional 4th instead of Höglander. And honestly, I'll take that. Conroy did well.
|
I like Hoglander more than most on here, and would have taken that trade.
But getting Brzustewicz + Jurmo + 4th/3rd is actually better, considering where the Flames are currently, and their lack of D prospects.

Not that I care too much, but that probably makes Oilers fans' blood boil. If the Canucks are the ones to flush those turds this year, I imagine it will be high on their list of excuses downplaying a Canucks victory.
|
What cap circumvention? I mean Tucker Poolman is injured with a migraine issue but it isn't as though they are hiding him for playoffs.

Who cares to be honest. Put them with Zary and tell them to score for the balance of the year.
The idea is to get maximum return of draft picks for the FA's rebuild with youth moving forward, or have I misunderstood the board this season?

I 100% skate faster than Tkachuk, which is good because he would murder me if he heard the things I have said about him

I don't mind Höglander either, but yeah, I prefer this deal too. I like Brzustewicz a lot, and he fills a void in the prospect pool. Adding another mid pick is great too, can never have enough bullets in the chamber. And if Jurmo can develop into something, that's a bonus.
Höglander is decent, but we have more than enough wingers already. Adding futures instead makes sense.

And by all accounts, he's working on his skating, too. I wasn't sure whether you were responding to my post just above yours where I pointed out Huberdeau and Kuzmenko being slow-ish. If you were, I'm not certain how effective a line of offensive players can be if all three of them are on the slower side.

I was waiting for him to bring up my being a Flames fan so I could dunk on him and you've ruined it.
I hate you.

Isn't the Kadri line already sheltered? Or is it just that the majority of their starts are in the O-zone? How many lines can you shelter? It's not like you can throw the 4th line out against any line.
I'm not saying I don't like the trade. But I am tempering my expectations on what we may get out of Kuzmenko because of the Flames' current roster construction. In particular, their lack of a 3rd quality centerman. Which, in the overall picture, is a good thing for this year's 1st pick.

I don't know if Kuzmenko has that great of a shot, most of his goals come from a cross crease pass/tip in. Most of his goals seem to be scored from the side of the net. He is definitely a skilled albeit soft player who is able to perform with better players but struggles to drive the play himself.
I don't know why but he reminds me a bit of Jiri Hudler, a good player who manages to find himself in the right position.

Any deal for Lindholm had to have a 1st rounder as the key piece.
Any team dealing a 1st rounder for Lindholm would be an established playoff team meaning they'd all be in the 20s.

The main factor for me in favour of this trade is that I don't think Lindholm is that good, was carried by his linemates in his best years and am glad we didn't pay him on a long term deal.
