Not openly, but if we have one of the aforementioned 'Gheys' in the locker room and he's bigoted behind closed doors then that could cause issue.

As someone who owns a Calgary flames pride puck, which makes me something of a gay rights activist myself, Im of mixed views on this. While I respect everyone rights to freedom of expression, it's unfortunate he feels this way.
I can see how this might be upsetting or come off a disrespectful for gay fans that the organization traded for a player doesn't support pride and maybe more generally gay rights.

Nah fam. Absolutely legendary policy on this one. Truly phenomenal considering the current outworldly climate. Protecting children and sports from having men against women in women's sports... and saving people from doing irreparable damage to themselves before they even can know who they are. Also needing parental approval before kids can be exposed to outlandish experiences through some people's 'sexual health' classes. winwinwin. anyone upset with it must have some strange perception.

But ya his stance is whack, but he's allowed to have that opinion, and it also doesn't make him a bad person. If he isn't actively harming or trashing people then if anyone is offended it's on them for being soft.

He is not a homophobe. His refusal to wear the jersey was family related, not personal view related.

No, he just refused to take part in something he doesn't support.

It's a ridiculous take. Not everyone on your favorite team throughout history will align with your specific set of beliefs. It doesn't take away from the value in the player to the team and the product on the ice.

Boo the player all you want, but don't tell people to like or hate the trade based on the fact that he chose to stand by his beliefs.

Since it was so distasteful and disrupting to be discussed in the trade thread, we have this absolute gem.

This is how we get ants.
 |
Why not leave discussions like this for another day so we can celebrate the great trade Conroy has made?

Nothing to do with safety. More likely they'd disown him.

This thread absolutely reinforces your terrible decision to thread-crap the trade thread.

Why not hold off on talks of gun control until the most recent mass shooting has subsided? Same energy.

And look, I know that's blunt and I don't mean to direct it at you or anyone specifically (and I'm certainly not drawing a direct comparison), but in general when are we allowed to have these conversations? I don't want to step over some arbitrary line.
