Thanks for everything Lindy. You were the best center we’ve had since Nieuwendyk. I’ll never forget the line you, Johnny and Tkachuk formed. The best Flames line in my lifetime:

For a guy who is completely disinterested in a contract year and has brought nothing in the playoffs other than Game 1 against the Avs? Gaudreau carried him and Chucky against Dallas.
Playing on the #1 team in the league will pep up anybody's interest level. I doubt the Canucks are worried about that.
As for playoff performance, it's a fool's errand to judge players on early exits. A guy does poorly in a 7-game series? Maybe he was playing through injuries. Maybe his linemates were, and that affected his performance. Maybe he was just having a few down games at the wrong time. Maybe the other team had the right matchup to contain him, as opposed to the regular season when you face a different opponent every night. Or maybe he's just not cut out for playoff hockey. I think fans are much too quick to jump to that conclusion.
Now back to my point: The Canucks want to stack their best forwards on the #1 line. That leaves them without a good option for 2C. Who on the trade market was going to be better in that role than Lindholm? I'm not seeing anybody. They paid a big price, but they got the player that was best for the job.

The write up in the Athletic is generally favorable to Vancouver.
Pronman doesn't think too highly of Brzustewicz, Kuzmenko, or the other guy. Thinks the only premium asset is the 1st.
B- for the Flames.
Lol has Pronman ever had anything positive to say about the Flames?

Ok ok, let me walk that back somewhat. Upon closer inspection (these are loafers), seems like the strongly prevailing view is that it was a fluke and that all of the sudden he’s a cap dump. Fair - and I haven’t followed him very closely. But he scored 39 goals last season which is being completely written off. What am I missing? Honestly wondering.
A 27% shooting efficacy last season. The dictionary definition of unsustainable. If Kuzmenko isn't filling the net he's a detriment to the team. The Flames are going to have to play him in a scoring role and hope he gets hot or he's going to be pretty useless. Maybe he clicks with Huberdeau? Maybe he helps the team lose a ton down the stretch and the Flames get a better draft pick.

It might just be my asstastic old man memory but IIRC Prongman always had a hate on for the Flames anyhow and all his articles were biased against them

As a gay, can we move on from talking about Kuzemenko's pride jersey stance? It is what it is. I want him to rebound, score a ton of goals and then get flipped next year for even more picks/propsects. I don't give a ###### about what he thinks about me and my kind.
If only the other gays on this forum could take the same approach, #### that would be great

Best case scenario is they lose in the west final so we get the 3rd. Then the east final loser is higher in the standings so that our pick is slightly better
I would be more concerned with where the 1st falls.
If the Nucks make the western final, the 4th becomes a 3rd, but the 1st would be what - no better than 29th?
But if they lose in the 1st round, the 1st could be something like 20-22?
To me, there is more value in the 1st moving up than the 4th becoming a 3rd

This is a guy that's supposed to be making a case for his next contract.
Hanifin's been 2x the player with the same incentive to work for.
His stock has dropped so much that people are thanking their luck stars they didn't sign him. At the very least he's outed himself as a complementary player who requires a skilled, puck carrying winger to essentially do what one would naturally expect of him as the center.
But maybe he's a fit there given the pieces he can be paired with.

He had 27 playoff games as a Flame. Can't remember how he played in most of them? He just replayed it in the past 27 games this season.

Seems like Conroy did pretty well here... be interesting to see how Kuzmenko does and how they handle him as a pending UFA with his no trade clause/control.
Kind of wild they didn't have to use one of those retention slots, makes me wish a little bit that they had used it on Zadorov and gotten that rumored bigger return, but I guess it could have painted them into a corner, and perhaps the 3rd slot could still be used in a deal with Markstrom or someone else
