This is effing awesome. Pretty much guarantees the Canucks will do jack squat in the playoffs.

If the Canucks lose in the first round currently the flames would get the 28th pick. If they don’t absolutely tank in thr final 33 games we want them to win two rounds.

Apparently not. Sharangovich played all his high-level hockey in Minsk before coming to North America. Kuzmenko comes from Yakutsk (reputedly the coldest city in the world), and played his high-level hockey in Moscow.

The big losers in the Flames Canucks trade are the Oilers!

This is the start of going down the right path even though I still think Lindholm is a heck of a 2-way center to give up. The erasing of Treliving's mistakes will hopefully turn the Flames into a true Cup contender in due time.

Really? A 40 goal scorer? If Kuzmenko were a 40 goal scorer the Canucks wouldn't have dealt him. Kuzmenko was a salary dump. Everyone has been talking about it for weeks and Vancouver made no qualms about saying he would be shipped out to balance salaries. So this is no big coup for the Flames. They ate a contract and player that Vancouver didn't want and the Flames were compensated with one of the prospects or picks. It's a good futures package but hardly the haul suggested from some of the other teams. We should be happy with it and hope Lindholm goes to Vancouver and continues his uninspired play, dragging the Canucks back into a wild card slot, for the best 1st possible, but helping them lose in the conference finals and securing that third round pick.

That's pretty comparable. It's not like butterfly wants a player off the team because he's a cat person instead of a dog person.

If the canucks finish first overall, it’s #28 so what the difference really.
The big draw would that the canucks most likely beat the oilers to get to the WCF, the pick upgrade would just be icing on the cake

So the 4th round pick becomes a 3rd round pick? My dislike for Vancouver outweighs my desire to go from pick 115 to pick 85.

Build that value for next TDL potentially

If Vancouver beats Edmonton I am all for it but maybe Vegas beats Edmonton and the Nucks also lose in the first round? That would be swell and to me hitting the condition isn’t that appealing.

Yeah, usually its stated the value of the pick will only get worse, not better.
Not one downside with this trade.

It's pretty close to the return suggested in all those polls if not more depending on people's view of Brz.
If you look a how they have played and produced in their draft+1 I'm not sure there is a huge difference between a guy like Calum Ritchie and him TBH.
Kuzmenko isn't as good as maybe a guy like Trent Frederic would have been based on this years okay but higher upside offensively for sure ...and you also have the other prospect and a 4th on top of it.
This is very comparable to all the trade returns proposed in the thread.
