umm......

Yeah. When I said previously that the Flames needed about 15 assets from their UFA's to be successful... I was not expecting to get half of that out of 2 players.

Getting two really good 3rd round pick prospect defensemen is huge. Another 1st and 4th to go along with the 3rd and 5th from the Zadorov trade is big too.

Kuzmenko on top is the entering highway robbery territory. Kuzmenko can be a top player if in the right situation. Being a top player on a rebuilding team will help him rebound. If he can regain value, he will return a good amount like Lindholm just did. Could be another 1st + 2nd next year from him if things work out.

I would like to see Coleman stay if possible. If he wants out, then trade him.

LGBTQ+ issues aren't politics, but I understand.

It's a good day for the direction of the Calgary Flames organization on the ice.

I hope Greasers don't get into playoff let alone to the second round.

Brzu has 69 points in 47 games in his D+1. That’s a great prospect. Get him and Morin paired up and with the Wranglers next season.

Trade will only get better once we flip this phobe for a pick or a prospect. Look at it that way! I’m so happy. I mean surely Tennessee or Florida is just waiting to say come home.

I really like this deal. It’s also early enough to set the market, which is great when we have so much more we could move. Lindholm was a great Flame, a great contract and then a great trade asset. Well done Conny!

Considering we didn’t retain on Lindholm, we could now retain on Kuzmenko, that might be appealing to teams

We had Hunter ranked 59th for last year's draft via E-Mac's Final Rankings.

From CP's own Sandman at Upside:

"Hunter Brzustewicz is one of the older players available in the draft, with a November 2004 birthday, but that shouldn't throw shade over his 57 points in 68 games for the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL, which is 28 points ahead of his nearest teammate. Like Akey, he is tagged with the label "modern-day defenseman", but is also often called "reliable", and a "two-way defenseman". Also like Akey, he may live to outclass his draft position. Another six-footer, he's said to be much stronger than his size, but he tends to use his superb skating and positioning to kill rushes, and break up the forecheck, but will use physicality when needed, and will fight hard in the dirty areas. Calm under pressure, but plays with pace and maturity, and of course- he will lead the transition. He needs some work on his gap control, according to some pundits, and his shot needs work- but some of those pundits say he might be one of the most NHL-ready defensemen in the draft."

~ from Sandman's Scouting Notebook

2023 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #52 by Elite Prospects

2023 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #51 by FCHockey

2023 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #61 by TSN/Craig Button

2023 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #66 by McKeen's Hockey

2023 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #52 by TSN/McKenzie

2023 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #41 by NHL Central Scouting
