I wonder if the cap space created by Dube's absence provided the flexibility to do the deal now. Thought it might happen after the break, but with the Flames absorbing some salary now, maybe that allowed them to make a better deal now. Vancouver gets the upgraded player now and a chance to bank a bit of cap space in the next 4 weeks.

I was thinking he was a 2022 pick but he's a 2023 pick...so they still have over a year to sign him.
So not that uncommon he wouldn't be signed yet.

Seems universally liked around here, great job Conroy!
Not many trades where everyone likes it.
More importantly than this trade alone, he's showing he knows what needs to be done and what type of assets to get back, contracts to shed, direction to steer.
