I'm going to try to work "wet dream" into my meeting tomorrow morning and hope no one thinks I'm a perv.

The fact that a politician thinks he can work that into a public record and no one will say anything is absurd.

I wouldn't say that in a corporate office, and I wouldn't say that in a Council meeting. I think most reasonable people would agree.

Wow, the pearl clutching here is really something. There are all kinds of reasons Chu shouldn’t be there but using the phrase “wet dream” barely registers.

I get McDonalds coffee every morning and over the past few weeks I have seen several customers berate McDonalds employees about the bag thing. Most not aware of the law blaming McDonalds for being greedy and others just angry they have to pay for a bag. I feel pretty bad for all the food service workers across the city that have had to put up with this type of behaviour over the past few weeks and feel that the city didn't do a good enough job notifying Calgarians of this change.

I have no idea what type of environment you work in but I know for sure I couldn't say what Chu said in a meeting without some ramifications. Plus, he's on city council representing Calgarians, be better than that. This isn't some high school party or frat house.

I work for myself, but I meet with clients all the time and people say all kinds of things. I think getting up in arms about this is down to two things (A) people dislike Chu. So do I in fact, but people keep voting him back in! And (B), someone’s pet project bylaw is getting tossed and they were a little sensitive.

I guess Chu saying wet dreams doesn't mean much unless he puts a teenage in front of it.

I can think of ZERO situations where I can say Wet Dream in my professional life where it would be acceptable. lol

I would never say that, not to my corporate clients, not in a public council meeting. No tact, no etiquette, no business acumen.

If you work with your buddies who happen to be clients and colleagues then you do you. I would never say that 9-5 when I have my professional game on.

And for him to say it given his past is just creepy creepy creepy creepy creepy creepy.

I'd be pissed too. the main point of the brown bag isn't to carry the fries. It's to absorb half the oil from the fries.

Let me understand this. You “sit” in the supporters section at Cavalry games and find this incredibly offensive? Come on.

Like sure, I think it’s inappropriate and makes him look ridiculous for saying it in a professional setting, but it’s not offensive in the least.

Let me understand this, you think being a fan at a soccer game, off hours and not being paid for that, is the exact same thing as a 9-5 professional setting? And you think this apple and oranges comparison is actually apt in this manner?

You don't even know me at soccer games let alone who I am, so who are you to presuppose?

I agree with you on rarely anything you say, but this is disappointing even by those standards.

I spent 15 years in corporate Calgary - O/G, utilities and government - and not one person has gone into a meeting or town hall and used that expression in front of a crowd. Not once. Because people know better. By god, let's hold our public figures to better standards than this.

Are you Chu? The only people who have used the term “offensive” to describe this are you asking people if they find it offensive and Chu saying “sorry you’re offended.”

I think the whole point is that it’s inappropriate and makes him look ridiculous. What more do you need?

Walk up to a co-worker and say, "I had the strangest dream last night", and they'll probably roll their eyes.

Walk up to a co-worker and say, "I had the strangest wet dream last night", and you'll likely be getting a call from HR.

Now I'm curious. I'm going to make sure I use that phrase from now on in a professional setting. And if I'm really feeling randy I might even say "bust a nut" or "blow your load" and see if it doesn't stand out in my normal vernacular.

I’d go with “that idea made me cream my jeans!” for a little bit more impact. I doubt anybody will think you’re a perv just for using some silly euphemism.

You can't say things like that in a modern work environment, you just can't.

Probably the same people that yelled at the dude asking them to wear a mask during COVID

Unless it is at a dairy farmers convention.
