It's literally impossible the Flames didn't know about this from day 1. Beans kid was on the team and would have gotten interviewed by the cops and for sure his father would have known the whole story. I'm sure most the players knew through word of mouth as well.

Weren’t you the guy calling Perry a “POS” and blasting the Oilers without having any idea what he even did?

It means that they have no proof themselves and cannot assume anything. Scumbag organization is a bit too far, don't you think?

Not speaking for Jiri, but in fairness, Perry has been a POS his entire hockey career.

Here's the statement released by the Flames: https://www.nhl.com/flames/news/flam...on-dillon-dube

Quote:
Dillon Dube has been granted an indefinite leave of absence from the team while he attends to his mental health. Dillon is under the care of health professionals, and we request that Dillon’s privacy is respected during this period.

Compare that to the statement Columbus released last week regarding Laine: https://www.nhl.com/bluejackets/news...stance-program

Quote:
Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine has entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, the Blue Jackets, NHL and NHLPA announced today.

He will be unavailable to the club for an indefinite period while he receives care. Under the terms of the joint NHL/NHLPA program, he will return to the club when cleared for on-ice competition by the program administrators.

“Patrik has our complete support, and our sole concern is his well-being,” said Blue Jackets General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen. “Out of respect for Patrik, we will have no further comment.”

The Flames statement is just a statement of fact compared to the statement of support from the Jackets. As it is, the Flames statement probably should have just ended after "Dillon Dube has been granted an indefinite leave of absence from the team" like the other teams' statements did.

It was a stupid decision and they should have just said he was on a leave of absence like other teams did.

I said it before if you're Rasmus Andersson how stupid do you feel right now that you had to answer questions about Dube's mental health and blamed it on the "twitter monsters"

They should get better lawyers then because the other teams seemed to figure out how to not blame it on mental health.
I agree with Matt. But it is possible that he was made aware of the upcoming charges, and told the flames organization that he would be taking a leave of absence, do to mental health. That way they wouldn't be held accountable. Even if they didn't agree to it, legally they had to.

well 2026 probably effectively ends most of their hockey careers, regardless of the trial results. Dube for example 27 years old, 2 years without playing, 3 line forward. I can't imagine a team that would take a flyer on that, even if he could get back up to speed which would be pretty hard at 27 after 2 years off.

If Flames take actions before criminal charges are brought and open themselves up to potential litigation.

It's possible they stuck their head in the sand hoped the ruling in 2019 of no wrongdoing stuck, but I'm not sure what the Flames were to do before charges were brought.

But the solution i guess is two mental health categories.

One category for the bad actors who suffer mental health issues because of the shame, dread, and fear of facing consequences from terrible and potentially illegal choices they made that hurt others.

And another for everyone else needing help (the non-bad actors).
I doubt they fumbled anything, At that point if they were legally not supposed to ask any questions, or get involved they had likely to accept the mental leave request they were given. Does that make sense? If Dube came to them with a medical leave request I doubt they were even allowed to ask him any questions. So they just put out the information as they were given, did the other players ask for medical leave for (mental reasons)?, probably not. Dube likely came to them with the "mental, medical leave" because of what happened to Kylington. The Flames honored request legally they couldn't ask him any questions. Dube's request for mental leave is under the doctor's authority what are the Flames supposed to do?

It's entirely possible that this ends up as a plea agreement and never goes to trial at all. Both the victim and the accused parties may not want to drag this out until 2026.

Enjoy playing for Admiral Vladivostok.

About as far away as you can go before you technically start coming back...
