I'd take that Boston offer in a heartbeat.

I like the Dallas one better, but I wouldn't argue, they are both spectacular.
I can't image Calgary getting a premium prospect plus a 1st round pick.

Boston for sure. Poitras looks like he could be a #2 or #3 C, and Frederic would give the team a dimension in physicality and chippiness that it’s missing going forward. The first is a bonus.
Probably Colorado second. Don’t like the Winnipeg proposal - Lucius has high bust potential.

I don't know all those players but I'm feeling like Chaz is a no for me.

If Craig truly thinks he can save this, then we're back to what's plagued this franchise for over 2 decades. This team has no stars, it has no robust stockpile in the draft cupboards.
It's got a great cast of supporting players, a bunch of disgruntled UFA's and and goalie who's likely value is the highest it'll be in the next few years with a market that's looking to be very advantageous for teams trading "good" goalies.
This team needs to do it properly, it needs to remove itself from the "just get in and anything can happen" mentality.
At no point this season has the team shown that it can go toe to toe with any team in 7 game series.
Please don't mess this up.

Is there a single rational fan that thinks Craig Conroy is looking at a team that has to go 22-9-1 to get in (112 point pace) and is thinking he is a buyer? There is absolutely zero chance that anybody in the Flames org is currently thinking that way. Conroy has done exactly what he said he would do so far, thinking he will suddenly do the opposite of what he said he will do is irrational at best.

I’d prefer to make all our trades to western conference teams. Let’s stack the teams that could potentially play the oilers as best we can.

If I were to rank those Lindholm potentials:
Colorado
Boston
Winnipeg
Vancouver
Dallas
Vegas - lack of 1st hurts and 2nd will be way late though Edstrom is intriguing.

Options are (would be interesting to have a poll on which one people would prefer)
Boston: 2025 1st, Poitras, Trent Frederic
Colorado: 2024 1st, Calum Ritchie. Logan O'connor
Dallas: 2024 1st, Mavrik Bourque, Sam Steel
Vancouver: Nils Hoglander, Kuzmenko, 2024 1st
Vegas: 2024 2nd, David Edstrom Brett Howden
Winnipg: 2024 1st, Chaz Lucius, Mason Appleton.
|
If you could get a single one of those, that's a win. I think they're grossly over rating what Lindholm can return in trade and unfortunately none of them seem likely. If one does happen, we'll all be dancing in the street.

Based on Bean's crazy press conference in the summer, he might think that. Hopefully he gets overruled.

The proposals are based on the framework that the Horvat trade returned.
Problem with them is that Horvat was trading with the NYI knowing that they were going to sign him to an extension.
I don't think that this is going to be the case with Lindholm.
For his return you have to factor in he is going to be a pure playoff rental and so the returns are going to be far less than what was speculated in the article.

What were you expecting him to say IN THE SUMMER?! I doubt he’s locked in on that opinion now and going forward.

People sleeping on Mavrik Bourque here...
Dallas seems like the best deal to me.

I'd take any of them except the Vegas one TBH.
1st, Poitras, and Frederic...for sure.
1st, Ritchie, O'Connor...in a heartbeat
1st, Bourque, Steel...easily would take that
1st, Hoglander, Kuzmenko...probably the best immediate return
1st, Lucius, Appleton...like Lucius too

Any of those would be a win. The addition by subtraction would be great (I don't think he's toxic I just don't think his heart is in it here. HNiC described as overwhelmed about his future, loved that description.) The cap space, the opportunity for youth. All would be great to say nothing of assets.

I think Poitras is over-rated. He's having a good rookie season, but as he showed in the WJCs in peer to peer games, he's not a play driver. He's benefiting from the elite team he is on.
I like the Dallas, Colorado, WPG and Vancouver deals over that one.
I would probably rank them.
1. Colorado
2. Dallas
3. Vancouver (try to get their 2025 1st instead)
4. Winnipeg
5. Boston
6. LV
