This is good. That means there’s talk of it. Move him out and get something of value while we can. I can’t see him attracting much interest as a rental next year. Big disappointment and cashed out on a contract year.

Zadorov's only under contract for this year, so his retention would have only taken a slot for this year's trades only. The slots were being saved mostly for Tanev/Lindholm/Hanifin, obviously.

A friend just text me that he read "on a sports rumor website" that the Devils might get Tanev and Marsktrom for a 1st and Holtz

I didn't ask what site.

That would make me happy though, especially if the 1st was unprotected by some miracle. I'd imagine the Flames would have to retain on Tanev for sure, and also take back a contract like Vanacek to make the cap work.

1st is probably 15-20 and there are some great dmen on the board this year. Though imo reasonable chance that tanev and markstrom would make NJ legit.

Is slot that 1st into the late 1st near the bottom if that trade materialized. They're treading water as is and when Jack returns things will get spicey for the east. Hypothetically.

But man it would be cool to make that trade and have the Devils pick end up mid round.

That would realistically exceed expectations for me. Holtz was pretty highly regarded a year or so ago from what I recall. Holtz for Tanev, 1st for Markstrom seems about right, more or less. I’d love a 2nd in there but wouldn’t cry.
