Goodness me that would be highway robbery for the Flames
Why would the Kings do that?

If they’re really desperate to get out of Dubois and compete. but I think the canadiens will bid for Dubois too. Maybe Monahan will wind up in LA.

I sure didn't expect Monahan to be on pace to outscore Lindholm this season (in both goals and points).

Dubois’ attitude issues aren’t limited to “early in his career”. It’s pretty apparent he was the guy that Doughty just called out.

Here’s a left field take but i’m still interested in dubois as a buy low candidate. Imo the attitude issues are way overblown and stem from him trying to get his way early in his career. A trade to a place with other happy go lucky french canadians might be a good fit to get him back in the right headspace.
What about trying something like kadri for dubois+la 1st + clarke? Kadri might be convinced for an up and coming competitive team.

Let's not surround a team that is getting younger with an entitled player with attitude and motivational issues please and thanks.

So what return would we be happy with/fair value for Vladar? A second?

A 3rd and I’d start the car.

I would not have a problem with it but Dubois is a longterm commitment to being bad. He is the type of player that is a net negative for your overall team.

Good article from Murat Ates from the athletic on trade chips the Jets might offer up. As they have been linked to lindholm, thought I would share.

I think his cap hit is too high for next season to get a 2nd. I’ll say 3rd rounder is home run but 4th rounder is probably more realistic. Goalies don’t seem to bring back much in trade market.

I'd rather have Kadri than Dubois but if that can get you Clarke and a 1st...

If MTL is going to do something stupid then I hope they make us a bid we can’t refuse for Huby.

100%
Dubois leaves and Jets flourish. Coincidence? Sounds like a dressing room cancer.
Amazing how that draft turned out. Laine goes 2nd and is traded after a promising start for Dubois. Dubois picked ahead of pool party to the surprise of everyone but didn’t really help the Jackets, then Pouts his way out of Columbus and then Winnipeg. Pool party busts. And juolevi gets picked at 5. Won’t even mention pick 6.
Just goes to show high picks do not guarantee success.

A third for Vladar and I'm ecstatic. Goalies like him grow on trees in the off season.

Well it's not like the Jets ended up getting nothing for their 2nd OA pick. They still have a near point per game 6'3 center from their trade with LA, which came from their trade from Columbus.
Even if the high picks don't turn out, you can often get quite a value just from good asset management.

Turning a paper clip into a Lamborghini. Flip side is look at what Columbus, Edmonton and Vancouver got with the 3,4,5 picks. Again, no guarantees with high picks.

There’s no guarantees with anything in sports.
It’s about opportunity.

The only guarantee in life is that there are no guarantees. Planning and diligence is paramount in drafting. Won’t necessarily lead to the best outcome given the variables in drafting 18 year olds, however organizations with the best scouting departments get it right more often than not.
