He is a cheap replacement player for a team looking at a deep run in the playoffs. He isn't going to push the needle one way or another.

They never had any real cap space, so would always have needed to make something work.

Now, this might mean they found that better options were too expensive for their liking, so went a cheaper way.

I always assumed that the Flames would take contracts and cap back in a deal with the Avs. Someone like RyJo. For example.

These seem like fairly basic obstacles to overcome. No clue why anyone would look at a Parise signing and think the avs are done adding to their team.

Yeah, any deal with the Avs will require contracts to move anyway given their cap situation and injuries.

Lol - yeah, this 360K cap hit signing totally took them out of the Lindholm convo. Couldn’t imagine a way you could work a trade out that sent money the other way, or maybe salary retention, or a third team involved. That hurts my brain to even contemplate.
