I don't want hockey to be hip. I don't care about the artists who play at these games. Hockey is fine. It doesn't need to try and be more basketball.

Man, how the hell did the NHL okay him being an All Star this season? He might be the worst selection of all time. Ain't nobody want to see him there.
There are four other players on the roster much more deserving than him.

……Is it too late to switch him out?

Possible silver lining: Maybe going to the All-Star game gets Lindholm going?
Possible dark cloud: Maybe Lindholm needed a bit of a break to reset, and now he can't do that.
Tune into the rest of the season to find out.

you guys still think the players want to go
Coleman likely has plans
Weegar is 2nd in the NHL in goals though, he is an injury away from losing his break

People are upset? Being sent to the ASG is essentially drawing the short straw.
Lindy must suffer a gimmicky dumb event for being a bum 1C for the team this year.
The other guys get rewarded with vacations on the beach.

Does anyone remember the year (or maybe more than one year) when the skills competition was made up of the winners of the individual teams' skills competitions? Like the five hardest shooters from those individual competitions, so players who normally wouldn't be at an all-star game were there.

All-Star Ed Ward! I think it was the hardest shot and fastest skater competitors that were determined from the individual team competitions.

Lindholm should not be there, but I could care less about this game being that every year it is all about Mcdavid, Draisaitl and now the Leafs and Canucks. Tom Wilson is also going lmao.

The year was 1996, and yes, it was the fastest skater and hardest shot competitions that had the four best of the individual teams' skills comps participating in addition to players actually selected to play in the game.
In the hardest shot the Eastern Conference had Scott Stevens (Devils), Peter Bondra (Capitals), John Leclair (Flyers) and the Bruins' John Rohloff—remember that guy? No? Me neither. The West had Chris Chelios (Blackhawks), Jason Arnott (Oilers), Dave Manson (Jets) and... Ed Ward.
Manson actually won that hardest shot competition.
The fastest skaters had Bondra, Daniel Alfredsson (Sens), Derek Plante (Sabres) and Shawn McEachern (Bruins) vs. Mike Gartner (Leafs), Sergei Federov (Red Wings), Tony Amonte (Blackhawks) and Bret Hedican (Canucks). Gartner—35 years old at the time, mind you—set the record lap that stood for 20 years.

who knows - maybe the game and hanging around with some big timers will spur Lindholm and he has a turnaround afterwards. It's happened before (and sometimes in reverse for goalies who got shelled).

This is embarrassing . Can we grant him the All Star Break instead of All Star Game?
