I mean not one single team would touch those players, yet the Oilers are all in.
You sound like Spector spinning this story - reclamation projects lol.

Thoughts on the entire "Perry thing:"
1. Whatever it is/was, it is/was a big deal. If it isn't/wasn't a big deal, then there's be no reason to keep it quiet.
2. Not saying the two things are similar in any way, but a big reason there were actual punishments around the sexual assault cover-up in CHI is because the whole thing was made public, and the public demanded action.
Summary: This Perry thing being covered up and kept from the public has to be something serious or they'd have no reason to keep it hidden, and as long as it's kept hidden, there will be no demands for accountability etc etc.
Remember, whatever this thing is/was, it is/was serious enough for the NHL and NHLPA to allow CHI to terminate Perry's contract and cut him loose from the team. This isn't a situation like Kylington or Dube, where they just need to shut down for a while and get some help.
Anyway... of course EDM rolls down the glass to offer Perry a ride home. It's literally what EDM is all about. They're that creepy dude cruising down sidestreets in the middle of the night, looking for damaged goods to take advantage of.

The thing is too, public disclose may not just impacted the perpetrator, but they person Perry harmed by his actions. The org could and probably is also protecting them.
####ty thing is it also benefits the perpetrator.

How has Kane been a model citizen? The absence of a story in the paper about gambling debts or beating your girlfriend is not "model citizen" worthy.
Not to mention, the Edmonton media would bury any story like that in a heartbeat if the Oilers told them to.

Yeah, Frank basically implied on Barn Burner today that Evander is still Evander.

Let’s not forget that the Oilers wouldn’t have signed Perry without the approval of McDavid so he is just as smarmy as that organization!

There’s a distinction between a criminal and workplace situation though. With the assault case it was a coverup and should’ve been public if it was originally reported to the police as it was a criminal matter. With a private matter that isn’t criminal, there isn’t a reason for the organization to make it public just to hurt his reputation. It’s no different than you at work if you were to get into the same situation. I love gossip as much as the next person and want to know the why but it’s an extension of our own corporate lives in that they shouldn’t be releasing internal matters out.

But any team would be within their rights to ask Perry what the deal was, and could they privately contact the Hawks, and make a decision based on his answer and their research. Instead, Edmonton just shrugged.

Except thats not what he said. Like I said half truths and misinformation in this thread.
He talked to Kyle Davidson, Bill Daly, Bettman, Perrys Agent, and Perry himself. He just said he doesnt know every detail, which doesnt mean he doesnt know what happened.
I don't even know why I respond, everything Oilers related will be twisted on here. Did he mess up? yup. Does anyone on here know what happened? Nope.
But carry on.

You guys even watch the press conference or just going by what someone wrote on CP?
Thats exactly what Ken Holland, multiple times, in the press confrence said. It was the first thing out of his mouth.

I wouldn't put too much weight on Holland saying he didn't know every detail during the press conference. That's just covering himself for later should the details become public.
Curious what Oilers fans thing the Oilers are doing for guys like Kane and Perry to help them? It seems entirely one sided. Sign undesirable players for as cheap as possible and hope they help you win.

This is true.
We should applaud the Oilers for paying millions to scumbags and criminals and rehabilitating them.
Everyone stand up and clap.

The Oilers screwed their Cap to hell and back. This is pretty much their only choice.
Kane? Okay...guy was still useful. But Perry? He's uh...post-apex.
Its textbook desperation and Holland has nothing to lose. And, fortunately for him Edmontonians will pay $30 for Burger and a BobbyNicks Burger and dont care about anything but wha they can do for the team.
"Yeah...he killed 5 people."
- Okay sure, but can he score 15?
And it all started with MacT.

I mean let's not pretend the Oilers are the only employer to hire someone after vechiular manslaugher. Ted Kennedy's only punishment was he couldn't run for president. Bet he could today.
