Just finished the second season of Reacher. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's funny, I was reading a random article about how the characters were unlikeable because they were morally grey, and had no issues killing the bad guys. I actually thought that made them more likeable. Nothing annoys me more than the dumb "oh, if you kill them, you're just as bad as them" line. No you're not just as bad. That's such a cop out.

Ditto. I thought it was pretty good.

It didnt have the same sort of 'charm' as the first season and...I know nothing about this world other than whats in the show. I've read no books, nothing.

But I enjoyed it. I think there is something inherently enjoyable about the 'Grey Area.'

We see it in movies and TV all the time. You cant always have the 'White Knight' where everything is perfect.

I'm struggling to hype myself up enough to finish Reacher. I'm sure there are a few more, "not nearly enough" lines though, looking forward to that.

Another great clip following Richie's arc, and finally a Taylor Swift bit I can make it through.
I need to watch both seasons again

Hey its the girl from peep show...I'm sure that has been recommended but what a great comedy, just watching it for the first time now

I'm not sure how I slept on this one for so long, but "From" is great. Really enjoying it.

I recall enjoying the first season but after watching the second season, I'm wondering if the acting was as wooden and the dialogue as poor in S1 as I found it in S2 and I just overlooked it back then. I finished S2 but I doubt I'd invest in another.

Reacher running to catch the helicopter in the final episode was pure comedy. I get it, working out to end up with his specific body type means you're not going to be fleet of foot but they should probably have got a stunt double to s̶t̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶i̶n̶ run for him.

Criticisms are definitely valid, but to be fair about the last bit, in almost every book Child has some talj about what a slow runner Reacher is.
I will watch everything Reacher anyone makes, always.

So here's a question...I've now watched S01 E1-5 and I'm quite enjoying it. (Ex-restaurant owner, ex-wife was a chef, both kids were as well, so ... I get that part of it.)

The complete frenetic chaos in the first few episodes would probably be somewhat off-putting for my quiet, ex-teacher wife...but if the series settles down somewhat from that frantic crazy start...she'd probably be interested in the people.

So...without spoiling it (if possible) does the pace and craziness settle out some ?

I wouldn't say it settles down. Definitely there are quieter, more serene episodes like the one that contains the above scene. But I'd say the overall tone is still hectic. These are talented, driven, but broken people in a demanding service industry. They each come to grips with who they are and what they can become in their own way.

That wasn't the worst part, the old I've hidden a small device to pick my handcuffs gag. Ugh, again.

S2 was okay there are much worse shows out there. Honest effort but lacking creativity. Some of the stunts and set pieces were very well done.

I had a similar problem. It was just a little 'too real' and the pace was just insane, but the restaurant game.

And my wife looks over at me and is just:

"This is ridiculous...restaurants cant run like this! *looks at my face* Oh God they do? This is crazy!"

I love The Bear, but I always fall back on this statement:

"For people who have worked in restaurants its too real and for people who haven't they won't believe it."

That is SO true!!!! Totally nutsoid business. Glad I don’t do that any more (tax isn’t much different for insanity, but the pace is more tolerable).

Read r/KitchenConfidential any given day LOL.

I've read Bourdain's 'Kitchen Confidential.'

They're all like that. Its insane. I've worked a lot of insane jobs in my life, but only Kitchen work gives me nightmares.

And I'm a Tax Accountant.

I read Kitchen Confidential before starting The Bear. Definitely feels like many of the scenes were taken directly off the page. Such a great show and love the frantic pacing. Not a single shot or line of dialog is wasted. Love the dark humour too.

Also just finished Reacher S2. Enjoy the premise and character along with the cheesy action reminiscent of the past. S2 was a bit over the top though. He’s not Captain America. Hopefully S3 returns to a small town and is more limited in scope.

Here's a show I 'borrowed' and enjoyed that isn't available in Canada that someone might want to check out if you're resourceful.

Dicktown. John Hodgman and David Rees - 2 seasons, animated 10ish minute episodes. Hodgeman plays John Hunchman, an Encyclopedia Brown, child detective type character who has grown up and hired his high school bully as his muscle to solve cases but all they can get are cases from highschoolers.

In Canada, the first season is part of Cake season 3 on Disney+. Cake is an anthology show so Dicktown makes up 10 mins of each episodes played in parts. The second season aired standalone and isn't available in Canada.

Okay. So I figured this would work to throw on in background, and I'm 2.5 episodes in.

To make it clear, I dont like Seth MacFarlane's humour most of the time, I dont really like Family Guy or most of its off-shoots...I will say that 'The Orville' was absolutely exceptional...I really like that show.

I didnt like either Ted movie, I thought they were just too stupid, I didnt even finish the second one which, for me, is almost unheard of.

But this show has elicited some actual, genuine laughter. I dont know what the difference is, but its genuinely funny.
