Lol! I love it. Sidecar and everything. That'd be cold as hell.

It's crazy to me how little AMA cars/trucks I saw and still see on the road in Calgary. The same goes for tow truck operators and plumbing/HVAC trucks during this recent cold snap and more.
You would think you would come across a lot of them on the road or at least in the area of your home. I can count ALL of them on one hand and that includes my next door neighbor who needed a furnace replacement, or shall I say, rental. Seems like he may have been taken.

Based on wait times during cold weather, I think there are only two in the city.

AMA has gotten worse over the years. They won't plug a tire for liability reasons, and they got rid of their low clearance trucks so if you break down in a parkade you're screwed.
I still think it's worth the price most of the time. I had to call them a few times last year during good weather and the wait wasn't too unreasonable.

In other news, our air quality is pretty damn bad right now:
http://aqicn.org/city/canada/alberta/calgary-varsity
I smelled it yesterday, but figured it was localized from a neighbour's house or something. Apparently there are still 60+ wildfires burning

TIL, we're not supposed to burn brush in winter unless there's at least 15cm of snow cover.

Ya it does not bode well for the start of spring/summer if we're starting from behind with existing fires and a drought!

If a ground fire is going good before it snows even 15cm won’t kill it. I have seen smoke coming out of a snow cover that was knee deep - pause while I measure my leg.
My knees were about 35cm off the ground at that time.

If I were AMA, I would put that in a low priority category. In that kind of situation, you can ask anyone nearby for help. Just make sure you have a set up of cables in the car.

Many are so reliant on these services that they wouldn't bother investing in cables or keeping some handy (and in some cases knowing how to use them).
It's good to know and have the basics to get yourself out of a pinch if you're stranded.
Resourcefulness is a dying quality. Which makes no sense when we live in this climate where your life can be hanging in the balance.

My inlaws needed AMA and the guy just showed up with a battery booster. It's so simple that everyone should have one. I have a Gooloo and I use it a few times a year helping other people out.

My battery died once while waiting in line for the car wash at a Co-op. Fortunately the guy at the gas station had one of the portable boosters, cause that was a really awkward spot to need a boost.
