I hate the Oilers
I also hate playing against Perry

But without knowing the details of what occurred in Chicago, I think it is hard to dislike this move. He has a reputation as a great mentor, loved teammate, and fierce competitor. This is a good move for the Oil, and if the Flames were contenders I would want them to do the same (once again, this is prefaced by not knowing what occurred in Chicago)

It's dirty pool but Perry isn't that great anymore.. waste some more cap space on a forward. Other teams will actually be improving at the deadline

Does anyone else find it insane that the that the NHL can allow someone who claims that they have alcohol struggles as the reason for his actions in Chicago back into the NHL just barely only a month after. I’m no expert but that seems like an awfully short period of time to punish a player for his actions and for someone to get the right help he needs if alcoholism was the issue.

- Perry released an apology, admitting his “behaviour was inappropriate and wrong,” adding he would work with experts to “discuss his struggles with alcohol.”

Seems fitting too that he’d join the Oilers. Classy organization.

Honest question, not trying to create a bitchfest argument, but what has Perry done to be labelled all this crap? Everyone keeps up with this narrative here, but what has he done??

Something bad enough to lose a 4M contract without arguing too much.

Seriously? No dammage, I'm new to hockey here. Scum, scumbag, really? He hasn't done much that half the players that have ever played do/done.

Look, I hate the Oilers as much, if not more than anyone and I get why dbags belong there, but Perry's a/used to be player. He's been a damn good player for a long time, although I think he's probably passed it by now. Irrelevant though, as I keep asking, what the hell has this guy done that you all are labelling him as such?? No one can really provide an answer and that's all I'm wanting!

Peery claimed alcohol was the cause of his actions. That was his excuse.

This was not a substantiated claim, as he didn't go into the leagues program. This was just a weak excuse.

And here we are. Fighting to make the playoffs so we can once again get a middling draft choice. But then again, some of you want to trade away all our UFAs so we languish in mediocrity for another 35 years.

How about we get rid of Lindholm, Mangiapane, Dube, Oesterle, Hanifin, Andersson and Vladar for draft picks? That's who some of you want gone or just dislike. Oh yes, and replace the coach. Say what?

I'd far rather eat 5 million of Huberdeau's salary, try to sign Lindholm to a short term deal, sign Hanifin, trade Marstrom and get a #1 Defenceman. Then we can decide who in our system should get a shot. I'm sorry but I'm not in the Coronato and Ruzicka camp. Andersson???? I also have doubts about Oesterle and DeSimone but until we get someone better they'll have to do.

But then who the hell am I, just a fan since day 1. Whatever, I'll still watch every game. Just not with as much enthusiasm as I used to.

Right on brand. Right on brand.

Tragically hilarious (also sad) that CP predicted this.

For most it was in jest, but I suppose Edmonton is truly a joke and here we are.

I can't think of a team that deserves to get kicked in the teeth harder than these pinheads.

A first round faceplant would be a victory for all that's good and righteous in the world.

It is incredible that a guy does something so nefarious that his team terminates his (guaranteed) contract, and the league approves that. Then the same league allows another team to sign him to a new one.

How incompetent can you be?
