Flames Martin Pospisil expected to miss a couple weeks

Could have been worse:

Sounds like relatively good news for #Flames Martin Pospisil after an ugly spill last night.

Pospisil is expected to miss a couple weeks, likely return after All-Star break.

Certainly not season-ending, which is big for a player who has helped bring out the best from Kadri.

That’s good news for Pospisill. Hopefully they call up somebody who can play top 6. Dube or ruzika are not the answer.

Klapaka seems like the obvious replacement.

From where I was sitting it was hard to see what he hurt.

It wasn’t a head injury was it?

Wouldn't they now shift gears and call up Coronato? He's a better fit for the top six I think.

A top 6 right wing spot just opened up. Coronato seems like the obvious choice.

Is Coronato a good fit on that line? Can he do what Pospisil was doing to help his linemates? I like the sound of Zary-Kadri-Coronato, but will that line be too small and lose the presence of the guy who has been making space for the others? Coronato is definitely the better scorer, but Klapka brings the same skills Pospisil does. Tough call and whether they want to mess with the success the line has had.

Not entirely sure I'd refer to Pospisil's value to the lineup being that he gets the best out of Kadri. It's kinda reductive. He brings a lot more to the table than "Motivator of Nazem Kadri."

Was hoping it was just a bump/bruise thing. I still haven't seem him actually collide with the boards. The only replay I've seen is the one from SNET where they just zoom in on Matthews (such a star!) as he's casually skating off, instead of keeping the camera on Pospisil.

Coronato is the natural fit there. Klapka should stay in the bottom 6, so take out Ruzicka or Dube for Klapka.

As I mentioned in the GT, I expect Coronato to be the call up. IMO, this would've been a great spot to get Pelletier(chemistry with Zary, plays with pace) in the lineup, but he isn't ready to return just yet.

Is Coronato a good fit on the Kadri line? Probably not. He seemed behind the play every time I saw him playing with Kadri.

That said it gives the Flames a couple of options:
Sharangovich was a good fit, and Coronato can take his spot on the Lindholm line.
If we want to keep the Sharangovich - Huberdeau connection, then putting Coleman on the Kadri line makes the most sense.

Zary - Kadri - Coleman
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Sharangovich
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coronato
Greer - Ruzicka/Dube - Klapka

Glad it’s not a more serious injury. Pospisil is quickly becoming my favorite player on the team along with Zary.

Coronato deserves another shot.

We're saying its not more serious than thought but no one has said exactly what it was and a 2 week window to me, still says concussion.

I hate it, but he reminds me a bit of Ferland. His career could be on borrowed time. More so than the average player for sure.

Not sure I'd go that far but he for sure seems injury prone.

If only Ruzicka can hustle like Pospisil

Flames scout should learn size means nothing unless they use it. Jankowski and now this guy. Watching him floating around is super frustrating

I think the flames scouts are always trying to find the next Rantanen… big guy with soft hands that uses his frame to protect the puck and make plays. Not necessarily a physical guy either. Rantanen was the comparison used when they drafted Honzek last year.

Call up Pettersen, I wanna see what he is at the NHL level. He looked decent in preseason and has been setting up Coronato quite a bit.

He was a 4th round pick. He showed he was too good for the AHL. He put up close to PPG last year when he was used in a top 6 role. He can't drive a line, and he's ineffective on the 4th line, but he's a decent complimentary player.

I think that's not bad for a 4th round pick. Notable guys picked after Ruzicka: Swayman, Batherson, Bemstrom, Cates, S. Aho, Perbix, and M. Barron. So 7 out of the 117 guys picked after him are better.
