I always thought that the rule was that if you used your time out, you gave up your chance to challenge. Did the leafs call a time out or did they just get to have 45 seconds to check their video?

That is why the NHL is getting left behind in professional sports popularity. There is not one hockey fan on any team who thinks you should call a goal back for that, or the one Backlund had called back earlier.

Thought you had to have a time out available to challenge a goal ?
is that not a thing anymore?

Got it...
The NHL has really lost the plot with this stuff.

Why is it so hard to use some degree of reasonableness? As you said, if a guy purposely pushes or gloves a puck, fine, but a puck glancing off a hand? Gimme a break.

Ironically, a shot that bounces into the goal off a player's glove is perfectly fine as long as he doesn't direct it in.

Double standard. Didn't we see a guy throw the puck to his teammate from behind the net against Calgary and it counted.

A distinct hand motion? I bet Coleman is going to have ptsd for goals disallowed like that.

Bull#### a hand pass is a puck intentionally passed with the hand to a teammate. A puck glancing off a glove has never been ruled a hand pass, until now.

Okay, even as someone who couldn't possibly care less about reffing or even caring about how good or bad it is, that's the chintziest call I've seen. It tipped his finger. Hand pass.....

Regardless of the team. Regardless of the call. That is the most bull#### I've ever seen.

There is some wack **** that happens in this league. BUT that is against the spirit of the game.

You address that bull**** right now NHL or else you'll have an onslaught of these horse**** calls ruining your on ice product.

So now is this going to be the new trend…burn a timeout to get more time to look at a “questionable” play before having to challenge. Just gets more ridiculous everyday.

Not because of the rules - because it would have been a missed /wrong call

Can’t have it both ways - and the hand pass directly lead to the goal

It was 100% the right call and I would rather not have goals that are caused from blatant missed calls when we now have technology that allows us to get the calls right

Sometimes the right call goes against the team we cheer for

I look forward to other coaches employing Keefe's strategy of using a time out to decide on a challenge. Really draw out the break and destroy the flow of the game just a little more.

Now that was a hand pass. To himself.

Mangiapane skates into great spots but he just doesn’t have the speed to turn the defender around.
