Did he kick your dog? I didn’t even call him good. He is inconsequential to the current Flames results. That’s why I was fine with the trade. I had zero desire for them to sign him to a contract for more than he was making.

To Colorado:
Lindholm (50% retained)

To Calgary:
2024 1st round pick
2024 2nd round pick
Calum Ritchie
Ryan Johansen (cap dump)

The prospect (Ritchie) in this scenario is more of an A-level prospect because the flames are taking back Johansen who is also signed for next season at $4 million. This deal saves Colorado cap space both now and next year.
Let's just keep anyone named Ritchie away from the Flames.

Heck no!

We'll take Calum, and then with that additional 1st we'll draft Ryder!

Ritchie for days!

Hmm, I thought Brett Ritchie was an awesome Flames depth player. Everything you want in a 4th liner, and one tough SOB too

He was unfairly blamed for the coaches decisions to play him too high up the lineup at times (both Ward and Sutter were guilty of this at times).

But when used corrected as a 12th / 13th forward he was generally impactful and brought some energy to the team.

PTSD or not… Calum Ritchie would be a fantastic prospect to get in a Lindholm trade. So much so I think it would be tough to get Colorado to include him in a trade. Could only hope playing Dallas and Colorado against each other could make Colorado step up and include him in the deal.

Brett brings nothing that you can’t get from guys like Pospisil, Duehr and Greer.
He is also at the age that you can’t expect improvement

That’s why he is in Russia now.

Prediction:

Tanev (Max retention) and Dube to NJ for a 2nd and McLeod

Lindholm (Max Retention) to WPG for Lambert and Heinola.

Hanifin re-Signs.

I think that keeps the Flames eye on the future and the now. Heinola can be filtered into the 4-6 d slots, Lambert can finish a strong year on a stacked Wranglers team, McLeod fills the center void ( and RHS and faceoffs and 200ft play) Lindholm leaves. 2nd round pick in this draft. Keeps everybody happy IMO.

We should get a prediction thread going in the next little bit.

Over/Under on # of trades and then personal predictions on deals!

Trade season is upon us!...maybe

One could dream of snagging Callum Ritchie (No relation to formers Flames named Ritchie) from Colorado for Lindholm. Byram would be nicer though.

Also from the Marky/Weekes thread. Imagine if NJ buckled and gave up Nemec for Markstrom?? Oooo that's a big beautiful add on defense.

Given his play in junior along with his position I am not sure the Avs would prefer to deal Ritchie over Byram. I wonder if they end up grabbing Tanev along with Lindholm, both at 50% retained for something like Byram, 2024 1st, and a lower pick or a B prospect. Byram will also need a new contract after this season if I remember correctly.

2 seasons remaining (including this one) @ 3.85.

So essentially tanev for a 2nd. As McLeod has shown near same if not less then Dube regardless of draft position and similar ages.

Not sure we need to retain anything for that proposed deal with NJ

I don't like that deal.

I think if retained tanev can fetch multiple picks. A 2nd and a third.

McLeod doesn't excite me.
