I went to the Flames game tonight, and on the jumbotron there was an ad about dry January and they were talking about zero % alcohol beer, which is fine or whatever, but they added the disclaimer “must be 18 or over…”
Why would you need to be drinking age to have a nob-alcoholic beer? Couldn’t a 6 year old theoretically crack open one and chug it?

I thought many 0% or non alcohol beers are actually about 0.5%. That might be why it is still 18+.

There was a stink last year when Kristen Bell said in an interview that she let her underaged kids order non-alcoholic beer when they were out for a meal, because they like the taste.
Haven't thought much about it, but I don't think I have a problem with it |

So putting Strongbow in my boy's sippy cup was an error?

I was actually wondering about this recently too. I think if I cracked open a 0% beer at my desk at the office or in a zoom call, it'd be frowned upon. Likewise if a kid had one with his school lunch, I could see uproar.
I think the stigma still exists that even though it contains 0% alcohol, it's still a beer.

Next up. banning kids from grape juice. Apple juice too, with the whole cider thing. Actually, all juices.

Maybe it would be fine if it was called Barley Juice instead of alcohol free beer. Someone should try that.

If you called it Barley Juice and sold it in the health food aisle next to the Kombucha and Oat Milk you'd be fine for sure. Might have to put it in tetra pack type packaging as well.

I was driving to work yesterday on the 407 and I saw a guy pulled over. Someone got out and started walking toward the next exit, which is 5 km away, and it was the coldest day of the year so far (in Ontario, at least). (Ontario, Canada, Locke!). I thought about taking the next exit and going back to get him, but in the business I'm in and how messed up people are, I just called the OPP and let them know. Two things made me suspicious; he just passed an exit so why not walk back toward the previous exit, especially in the cold? And why no cellphone Who walks 5 km in the bitter cold if you don't have to? He didn't have great clothing for the weather, either

If his car died his phone probably died too. Walking down wind far nicer than going into it. When hoping for a ride, walk with the traffic.

What does his phone dying have to do with his car dying? They're completely autonomous and unrelated machines.

Sure, but 5 km as opposed to probably less than 1?

Without knowing the area you were in it it entirely plausible that maybe he lives near that next exit 5km away and he decided to walk home in which case go back to the previous exit does him no good.

Ahh...Ontario, Canada...objectively the worst Ontario.

If his phone wasn’t dead he would have stayed in the car, elementary deduction Watson.

When it’s -40 with a serious wind chill you can walk 5k downwind and get less frostbite than walking 1k into the wind.
