Nice! Both my taps thawed out as well. Crazy what a 40C temp swing will do...lol.
Lol! I so rarely get time off work so I decided during the 'Deep Freeze' I'd take some time. The fact that my car was a useless frozen lump helped make the decision.
Anyhoodles, in the spirit of the times I decided to re-watch 'The Day After Tomorrow.'
It just felt right at the moment.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Well the good news the shower suddenly started working tonight
And if water hasn't started spewing out the side of your house like a fire hydrant, that's a good sign. The office building next to ours had water flowing out its walls last night as I was walking home. They shut off the water on our entire block.
Our cold water line came back to life, but hot is still down. I just remembered I have a waterpik, I might fill it with hot water and see if I can melt the hot water blockage.

I think you still owe that to Lloyd Braun.

Kitchen faucet is frozen for me the last few days. Same thing: along an outside wall. Tried a space heater and even turned on the oven for a while to no avail. Closed the pipe valves under the sink and waiting for warmer weather.
Assuming the freeze in upstream of the valve in the wall, is this the right idea? I thought it was best to open a tap to relieve a bit of pressure and let it starting flowing once you get a bit of melt. Closing the valve would do the opposite.
Main risk being wasting water once it starts going.
edit: oh just saw your sucky update. Sorry about that...sounds like closing the valve was a good thing!

The other potential risk, such as in my case, is the drain is frozen. Then you overfill the sink once the water lines thaw.
