I suspect on the open market this summer he might get more 7.5 to 7.875 per year. He'll be 29 when the deal starts which is 2 full years younger than Kadri plus a cap bump and expected growth for the next 4 seasons at least.
But I think you have to trade him. He's more of a 2 than a 1, and you're already committed to a pricey number 2, and an older 3 for two more years. The team has to get younger at that position somehow in the coming seasons.
It's a very hard position to fill, so I think that makes it a really hard decision.
Kadri was coming off over 100 point pace season and a big time cup run where he was a major factor
I thought it was a funny slip up from Zary. He called Flames fans "your fans", instead of "our fans". I think that attitude of not taking his spot on the team for granted is why he's still busting his behind every shift, and a large part of his success at the NHL.
Super cool vid. Makes me reminisce about moments that I had with my dad, miss those.
Kudos to nhl teams who make this happen for both the dads/moms or allowing other family members to attend if mom/dad can't. I don't think any other pro sport has this type of tradition.
