It must be tough playing for the Flames these days. I'd like Conroy to do his work before the deadlinem because the distraction is going to take over in the next two weeks.

I think this topic is going to get very tedious in the next 53 days.

Especially, if every time Markstrom/Lindholm/Tanev/Hanifin are headed to the locker room early, we're going to assume that they've been traded.

I just hope that we do see some trades before the deadline, because trades are exciting, and the wait for something to happen sucks.

When you have as many key pending UFA's as the Flames, you probably want to get some of your business done a week or two prior to deadline day as I can't imagine what the phones would be like on March 8 if Tanev, Hanafin, and Lindholm are in play. There's just too much going on there to have to deal with going down to the wire.

Treliving in particular seemed to like to get things done ahead of time. If he is going to make a push for any Flames players, I expect he'll get the ball rolling a few weeks before the deadline.

It is. I would guess that there's a better chance of signing our pending UFA'S than there is of trading them. The team is playing well, that's all that matters right now. This franchise has had the "anything can happen" mentality forever, they're more likely to quadruple down on this team than they are to change things right now.

James Nichols of New Jersey Hockey Now believes that the Devils have shown interest in Markstrom, but the asking price has been significant, as it should be. The Flames are believed to have asked for Simon Nemec or Dawson Mercer in return, both of whom the Devils do not want to part with yet.

That is a crazy ask. It does increase the likelihood that if one of the other UFAs are added to a deal, something really good could come out of Jersey.
