I don't think VAR can intervene on a yellow card offense? Otherwise Guimarães might have been off in the first half for a second yellow. The crackdown on arguing seems to have softened over the year, because yeah there were multiple City players who could have gotten one for arguing. But it was another match of wildly inconsistent reffing, very comparable situations yielding different results. Whether it's consistently bad or consistently good I think we all just want consistency. When you never know what is going to happen, that sucks.

And he had multiple instances of screaming in the refs face while on a yellow. Players have gotten cautioned for way less this year
Unreal goal from Bobb
At some point Trippier needs to be investigated for match fixing. He’s cost his team multiple games in the last month
As you say, that game winner was an amazing goal. The pass from KDB was so good and the fast feet for Bobb to get it around the keeper was just beautiful. Hard to fault the defence.

Yeah VAR doesn’t get involved on yellows at all. Whether it’s to give a second yellow or potentially not give a second (for the red).
Nah we can definitely fault Trippier, he's been poo for a while now. Still a crazy good goal all around, but he was sleeping a bit on allowing Bobb to get in there.
Also, has there ever been a more obvious saying we're going to hear repeatedly when Bobb scores than "Bobb's your uncle!"?

JJ Watt (who owns a piece of Burnley) was not happy with the equalizer being allowed yesterday. He calls it disgraceful, but he probably just isn’t familiar with the use of the term in English so he should escape sanction.
I don’t know how legitimate this is, but apparently a number of clubs are going to be subject of a “Profit and Sustainability” announcement Monday (which is the Premier League’s equivalent of FFP). This is for breaches in 2022/23 and includes City, Villa, United, Chelsea, Fulham, Everton, Forest and others. Liverpool and Spurs are the two without mention (and they’re the two with some breathing room overall).
Like I say…I don’t know the validity, so I guess we’ll see. Apparently the announcement is Monday morning though. I got this from a Spurs video that explains the whole thing, but it’s over an hour and I didn’t think anyone would be that interested.

What about Arsenal?
You can't drop that news and leave out the most important team.
Well they were mentioned as a team with some issues but it didn’t sound devastating enough. Apparently though, there are a lot of teams with problems and accounts had to be submitted by Dec 31, with ramifications coming sooner. The appeal period is basically up until the end of the season with final decisions to be made a week later. I think they’re trying to avoid the current Everton scenario again though, where they’d have been relegated last year and instead the deduction came this year.

What spurred this on all of a sudden? Teams have been financially doping for decades, why now?
Also, I'd love more info, do you have any links?

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

That’s the video and just remember you were warned about it being all about Spurs! I think the FFP/PS stuff starts at 9:20 and he goes through a lot of links. His thought (which makes a lot of sense from a finance perspective) is that clubs will be forced into selling homegrown players to deal with this. The rationale is that with a homegrown player, it’s pure profit. A player you bought say a year ago for £50m on a five year deal and sell for £50m today is only going to net you £10m (due to the amortization). So for us, Harry Kane being sold was £100m that is pure profit.
This is also why you’re seeing loans and loans with the option more frequently. Clubs aren’t necessarily in enormous breaches, but they are in positions where they have to be very careful. He goes through several stories where people like Unai Emery, Eddie Howe and others almost come right out and say they have to sell to buy, but what they leave out is that they need to sell homegrown assets or assets where the contracts are largely amortized.
And, what’s spurred this all of a sudden is a few things. First, the Everton scenario where they were in breach and the points deduction would’ve meant relegation. That’s a big problem. Coinciding with that, is there is a PL oversight office coming in the UK. They have to get things in order and it’s not optional. So, accounts are due by Dec 31, they look through and make their assessments with the report ostensibly due today (Jan 14), but of course it’s Sunday. And I believe that this is actually coming down across Europe and it’s wider than the PL…but that last part I’m not 100% sure. I honestly just care about PL and only watch other stuff here and there and don’t pay a great amount of attention.
tldr; tomorrow morning could be interesting. It could also be some bluster and just smaller clubs get whacked while the big offenders are unscathed.
