Open the door and partake in that sweet, free hallway heat.

Who’s not doing what? Was this just to post for fun? Or do you also see how there are several items of information missing between “heat went out” and “when can they sue for being cold?”

I assume it means his friend has tried contacting the management company and they haven't resolved it in a satisfactory manner, so who should she contact next (legal recourse) to get it resolved?

A lawyer then I guess. They either have a landlord, or a property management company responsible for the common elements of the building. Water lines to a unit are the buildings responsibility. No one outside the actual resident will have the full details, which should be readily available/provided when they moved in.

I assumed they were just a freeman (woman) of the land and squatting in an apartment they’ve taken over and staked their claim to New New Brunswick.

Serious question, is it immediately lawyer first? Or is there some provincial tenancy group that could be contacted for something like that.
I seem to recall in Alberta the suggestions is usually a tenancy group. I assume there's similar in Nova Scotia? But not even sure if WO403's friend is in NS or if they're in a diff province.

the landlords were advised to repair last year in the summer and they chose not to. now her heat is out, again, ongonig issue for a year when it gets this cold.
i assumed that common sense would make it understood she has already dealt with the landlord but i guess not

As the King of New Brunswick I take offence to people just 'claiming' my apartments all willy nilly!

Yeah I should have filled in the blanks and assumed it was a multi year old issue. It was obvious.

I don't often come into this thread so I just saw this. I'm sorry you had this experience but happy to see that you worked your way through it. Even old farts like me don't have everything together. If we had everything together, we'd have nothing left to do. I just came across this quote from the book "Finding Joy" by Jenni Moen: “Everyone has their s###. It’s different s### for different people, but it’s still all s###. Being able to deal with it…that’s where greatness lies.” Your greatness was on display as you worked your way through this. Thank you for sharing your greatness with us.

Odd that two of those articles both make the same mistake.
