That ought to get Oiler fans talking!

Leon playing it right in line with his character.
Me-first guy to the bone. Which means the Oilers are probably boned!
But it's important to maintain hope and not trade him.

Makes sense. Who in their right mind would want to leave that organization!?

You have to remember that from the inside they think they're hot ####.
And most of these crusty old armpit lickers in the media probably haven't travelled to another NHL city outside of Alberta since pre-pandemic for any kind of perspective.
But this is perfect because Leon sees the light, while they still believe he can't bring himself to go anywhere where his Oiler buddies aren't.

Draisaitl seems like the type of guy that wants his own team.
He's stuck around to try to win, it hasn't worked, but now he's going to want a chance to be "The Guy".
That's kind of how I read it TBH.
I just hope the Oilers don't trade him, and instead walk him to UFA to try to not piss off 97.

He’s going to be seeking a contract that pays a higher annual salary than Matthews and he will likely get it.

Leon has been underpaid by too much for too long now. I don't believe he'll take a penny less than $13M on this next deal.

Leon also strikes me as the kind of guy who wants a house where he can have a pool with deck chairs and actually use it.
The only thing that would give pause is that his girlfriend is Canadian.

Draisaitl left Germany to live in Prince Albert and then Edmonton.
I'd be pissy too.

Here's tired/rested for whole season. Still looking for this based on today.

Leon didn't say much. However, when he said he will do the best thing for him, and McDavid will do the same, he told us two things:
1) The two do not have to stay together. They can and probably will go their own ways.
2) He is not taking a lesser contract to remain an Oiler.
Every one of the Oilers stars of the past have left the Oilers when given a chance. There is no reason to believe anything has changed.

I don't think it matters too much in terms of tired vs rested. Pretty comparable between Van, Cgy and Edm this year anyways.
But the geographical/travel advantage in their back to backs seems to be more than negligible, as well as all these odd 3+ day breaks scattered throughout the schedule.
It's been pretty forgiving to this point. I say that because I look at the OOT and never see the Oilers on there on Flames game days, and then when I do see them, they're playing some bottom feeder.
Pretty nice sched for the dog days of the season.
Meanwhile for Flames are on an eastern swing, fly home just to play ottawa, then immediately travel south.

They can trade him for draft picks, Oilers suck at drafting.

best outcome would be this signing drags on all season, Oilers think they can win the cup so they don't trade him and then he walks in the summer for nothing, after the Oilers get knocked out in the first round.

I suspect that playing with Foegele and McLoud has him a bit grouchier than normal. It's one thing to be away from McDavid...but this is what you give me?
