There was also an earlier post pointing out that -30 temps were more common in Alberta in the 20th century than the 21st. So people who remember Alberta having colder winters than in recent decades aren’t wrong.

Seems to be differing opinions on whether or not we reach -40 early Saturday.

Lowest temp ever in Calgary is -42.8.

It's coming.

The boy turned 18 yesterday and graduates High School this year.

He is off to UVic for school.

My girl is in 3rd yr at U of C, then she will be off for grad school.

Then it will happen.

Haven't decided where, but I can work from anywhere with secure Wifi & an airport.

But I do like skiing and snowshoeing.

Also cancellations starting to stack up here at YYC, check before heading out over the next few days. Pacific Coastal (they fly for WestJet to Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, Cranbrook) was telling me some stuff is literally off the chart for them at -30.

Cue the old man yells at clouds memes but what is going on with the road maintenance in YYC this week?

I've been on the roads all week and the only plow/grader/sander I've encountered since this weather blew in was on Crowchild. Many major roads are absolutely treacherous in the suburbs and core.

Even with the historically poor level of snow/ice care in the city, this is just a joke. Traffic could be moving far quicker and safer with even a modest amount of attention.
