If the guy was unloading or whatever, I would be fine with that. But they literally pulled over, hit the hazards, and just started their shoveling and whatever. So annoying...just pull around the corner to the less busy sideroad and take up a lane there?

They like to do that in the bike lanes downtown, as they blast the snow off the sidewalk into the recently cleared bike lane, for good measure. So then you get to hobble around over the cement divider into traffic, which I'm sure makes everyone involved super happy and is incredibly safe, as the bike lanes were designed to do...

CBE and their calendar. They used to publish tentative calendars years in advance. They don't even have a tentative calendar for next year yet. I set a watch for updates on the page where they announce it, which pinged yesterday. The only change to the webpage?
They removed the phrase "calendar to be released in early January".

I don't know how to set a watch for updates on a page so if they post something constructive can you copy it here? Thanks in advance.

I've been waiting for this as well so that I can book a trip during what I assume will be a fall reading break again. But late last week I decided I couldn't wait for a calendar any longer and just went ahead and booked Friday Nov 8 through Saturday Nov 16. I'm assuming that Friday will be a day off plus Monday for Remembrance Day. If there are additional days off that week it will be awesome but if not my kids will survive.

I recently watched 'The Holdovers' and clearly the answer here is to turn them all into boarding schools.
Wouldnt that be glorious?

Yeah, that's what I'm waiting for as well. I booked a trip last year and then they changed it, so we got back right before the 6 day fall break.
Edmonton switched their fall break to Halloween, so I just know that if I book for Nov 11 weekend they'll end up having the week before off...
Frustrating to me that even Edmonton is more with it than the CBE.

If you are any sort of contractor (trades) downtown you are allowed to park anywhere for any reason.
Oh, I'm working I can double park. I'm down here to work too, why can't I park anywhere.
That reminds me, where can you get custom stickers made?
I want one about half a foot in diameter saying "can't park here" that I can slap on the windshield of the daily illegal PM rush hour parkers on 6th Ave. Preferably stickers that do not come off nice.

I just found out about the Health Canada corded blinds ban and that it includes all blinds with interior cords. ie, Cordless top down bottom up blinds are included in the ban. I can understand blinds with long cords, but how does a kid strangle themselves on the interior cords above the blinds?
It also includes standard horizontal blinds apparently. Window covering options are rather limited now and that grinds my gears.

Next up, banning umbilical cords. Have you heard how many babies they strangle?

Life is an endless series of struggles. Its best they learn that as soon as possible.

I get that's your shtick, but he (like most people) probably wouldn't have found out about that until he went to buy new blinds, which most people probably don't do on a yearly basis.
But hey, we might as well ban blinds that can't choke people because the cords are internal and giving away (but not selling) compostable bags.

“Reachable” corded blinds

Can I still buy the same types of window coverings as before?
These regulations require changes to many window coverings.
1. Most blinds & shades will still be available, just without a reachable corded lift system. Most window coverings will now be raised and lowered through a shrouded continuous cord loop, cordless lift systems, power wands, or motorization/automation. In addition, certain products will have some new types of lift systems (e.g. wand lift).
|
Quite frankly if I can’t buy reachable corded blinds with cords over 22cm then I don’t want blinds at all.

Just pick some random midweek day in late August to start, the absolutely last weekday of June to end, and a PD day every two Fridays in between...and you're probably 95% of the way there.

I heard this from a maintenance guy who was fixing my Venetian blinds a few months ago. It sounded as stupid then as it does now.
