Florida Man on Netflix, starring, among others, Edgar Ramirez, Abbey Lee, Anthony LaPaglia, and Clark Gregg. Pretty decent drama with Florida comedy moments thrown in.

One of my favorite Reacher novels.
Season 2 has strayed very far from source material.
I don't hate it, because it's Reacher. But I'm pretty disappointed

I am curious about Catch 22, also on the same channel. Might try that one next.
Godfather of Harlem is on Disney now. So a +1 recommendation to this post made 4 years ago

Yeah it really bothered me.

The story was weak and grenades, can we ####ing stop with the thermonuclear grenades.

I could not agree more. Seasons 1 and 2 were le Carre. Season 3 tried to be 24, but not nearly as good.

I enjoyed watching the Expanse over the holidays, it wasn't great but it was fun, clearly the whole basis of the show was 'we've got all these sets and crap left over from Battlestar Gallactica we should make another sci fi show!!'

Is it written by AI? Not being funny sometimes I wonder.

That last episode I found hard to stomach. I understand we're not watching a major motion picture with a huge budget.

Spoiler!

Like that was just awful.

I have enjoyed the Reacher novels although I stopped after he handed it off to his brother. Fortunately I can't remember the plots at all when watching the show.

On my way to work, I saw a billboard for a tv show based on the movie "Ted" about the teddy bear. My first though was, how terrible, but just looking it up, Seth MacFarlane is still Ted, and Scott Grimes is the main character. Apparently 8 episodes come out on Stack on Jan 11

That or the books sold a lot of copies.

I'm pretty sure I've seen it mentioned here but out in the wild, I don't meet too many people who have seen Reservation Dogs (on Disney+).

One of my favourite shows ever. There's only three seasons, the story ends, and it's a dramedy about a bunch of kids growing up on a reservation. I can't really think of too much content out there that's quite like it.

That third season arc was tremendous.

I started watching Mr Bates vs The Post Office after hearing about the scandal in the news. Hundreds of UK sub-postmasters were convicted of fraud in the 2000s due to money missing from the Post Offices they run, but it was all a computer error. It’s only now, because of this TV series, that many of them are getting their names cleared.

I realize I am late to the party, but Mad Men.

We are two episodes in.

Does it pick up pacing?

It may not be your thing.

It's my favorite show ever probably, ahead of Sopranos, True Detective season 1 or The Wire.

And I loved it after the first episode. It's not really a plot driven show so I wouldn't say the pacing really picks up. It's more about characters and capturing the era. And particularly it's depiction of office/business life in NYC at the time is what interested me.

Whisky distillers need to be thankful of that show. Single handedly brought the Old Fashioned back into vogue and it is still everywhere.

I remember pacing being pretty consistent throughout. What sucked me into the show was that late 50s, early 60s aesthetic, office environment, and the cast. Hamm and Slattery are brilliant, and it's fun to have a peek into the culture of the time through an advertising perspective.

There are some frantic and WTF moments that shove the plot forward, but if you're looking for it to build towards finales like Better Call Saul you may find it plodding. It's a character drama that gets better each season as you invest more in the characters, IMO.

Agreed. I remember enjoying it all the way, but having to take breaks after 2 episodes most of the time just because it's such a slow burn. Great scenes with great performers and worth it. But it's not a binge show. It's from a time when waiting a week in-between gave you a much needed break and to want to go back. If you space it out you may enjoy it more.

Our Flag Means Death cancelled after 2 seasons. I'm a little disappointed because I think there was more to do with those characters and the story. However, the way the second season ended gives it a nice little wrap.
