I almost get this.
Losing is ultimately better, but losing to this Hawks team is a complete disgrace.
Vladar is just so bad.

What about put to use that cap space he got for Zadorov?

My garbage takes: Lindholm was selected to the All-Star game by ownership to slightly increase his deadline trade value. Not because he deserves it at all.
The team is also following in the footsteps of the frozen skid-marks up north. Suck for the better part of 2 decades, acquire a new arena deal, overpay for aging free agents, and still continue to play below expectations.
At least when the team was bad through 2010-2014 there was a glimmer of hope for the future and good entertaining hockey with a bunch of no-names we could fall in love with. (McGrattan, Schlemko, Ferland, Hathaway, and yes even Wideman had an exciting year or two before the incident).

Can’t say I’m shocked. I won’t cheer for losses, but losing and selling is likely the best path forward for the franchise. So I’m not really upset either.

This is probably true. They get to showcase him with better players and hope he takes advantage and puts up points- increase his value. Good plan actually.

I think after this road trip it is time for Conroy to come home and trade as many free agents as he can. Do it before the trade deadline or the All-Star game, holding on won't increase the value, but eating 50% of the salary on 3 guys will help.
I love Tanev but he is causing more issues right now than he is helping and it is time to move on before he lowers his value more.

Its refreshing to see this attitude opposed to the ones cheering for losses.
Cheering for losses perpetuates losing and is welcomed by losers

You should search dissentowner's post history with they keyeord: "Huska".
If I'm not mistaken then every perimeter shot is Huska's fault. Lack of offensive creativity is Huska's fault, or the result of keeping Sutter's system. Not playing Huberdeau on PP1, or with the empty net is Huska's fault. Playing Vladar instead of Markstrom/Wolf is... You guessed it ... Huska's fault.
Can't remember if it was dissentowner, but I remember someone mentioning Huska not developing any top forwards and stifling offense in the AHL as well.
---
Anyway, I think that it's a bit biased, and that the Flames are playing to their potential with the current roster composition.

I'm more concerned with trading players away for picks, rather than hoping for losses for the Flames' own draft pick.
If that Flames can get to the 2024 draft with three first round picks, they'll be golden. I think this is more important than the actual position of the Flames' own first round pick (unless the pick were at the very top of the draft).

Burn it to the ground and start fresh next year with the kids and let them grow and improve together. I want scorched earth by the trade deadline!

I'm of the exact opposite opinion.
Yes, get the additional picks - but there is no more valuable piece than the Flames own first round pick.
The Flames need to get as close to 1st overall as possible, and then hope for the best when it comes to the lottery.

Win or lose, idgaf. I just enjoy watching goals being scored and saved at this point.
Loses get us better likelihood of top talent so that’s nice.
In another world we have Johnny and Chucky and Lindy being the best line in hockey.
Then Coronato, Zary and Pelletier right behind them.

Are you serious? With the way he runs an offense the Avs would be a bubble team if he coached them and MacKinnon, Makar, and Rantanen would all be requesting trades.

Blaming everything on the coach is just looking for an easy fix. At some point the players need to perform. For the most part they were the better team tonight, and the disallowed goal, followed by a couple of own goals really sunk the ship.
The team is missing Gilbert, because the 3rd pairing of DeSimone - Oesterle is an AHL level pairing, and keeps getting exposed.
|
Voicing things in hindsight? I said this was exactly how the team would look under Huska before he got hired. Also, Vladar was not good in that mid week game and if Saros had not been way off his start we would have lost that game. Why would I have complained if Huberdeau who has been playing great lately would have been out there? Your post is just ridiculous, try harder.

Everything you said I just said there is absolutely true. Are those things not in control of the coach? I mean thanks for proving my point there guy, well done.

I don't even post in post game threads anymore. What ticked me off about this one was that this team playing like absolute trash against an AHL calibre roster they have no business losing to. I'm not expecting the playoffs or anything but there's just no way to sugarcoat how bad this loss was.

Lots of teams have lost a game to the Hawks. The Avs, Knights, Lightning, Panthers, Leafs (twice), Blues, Preds, Jets, Pens included.
I assume they played badly in their losses as well.
