They put a tonne of effort into getting the puck down low and then throw it to the point.
It's stupid.

#57. DeSimone. I get those two mixed up.

Ya even the Sharks are more creative than this group.

As it has all season I just don’t see talent. That they are losing to an AHL team isn’t surprising. Our best two players are AHL callups. Easily one of the least skilled Flames team I have ever seen.

I feel like Mangiapane-Backlund-Coleman line is going to get quadruple shifted in the 3rd.

There has to be some discipline to the approach.
They also picked a lane last season - the “try and maintain a successful team” lane. It failed for a number of reasons.

I'm fine with Conroy's approach. Assuming we sell our UFAs. I don't believe in deliberate scorched earth rebuilds. They usually backfire and focus on top 3, top 5 or whatever arbitrary measure people think is a must is misguided.

IDK about a "tank", for this year. I think the plan was to have some placeholders to wait out some cap issues, while developing Bedard, Reichel, Kurashev. There doesn't seem to be as clearly defined "must have" draft choice for next year, and the 'Hawks will have enough cap to make a FA splash in the off-season, to go with the youngsters, Hall and Jones. I do expect a deadline sell off of guys like Dickinson or Donato, and other forwards. I hated the Perry signing, and am relieved that that bum is gone.
It is 'Hawk D that is the most interesting, and needs the most work. Korchinski, Vlasic, Crevier, and Phillips are getting trial by fire, to develop. I see the bulk of them staying with Jones' unmovable contract. And it is my hope that the 'Hakws will offload Murphy.
Mrazek should get a deadline haul too, as he would be a UFA rental.
On the whole, expectations were low, so, there is little impatience among 'Hawk fans on most fan forums, that I've seen.

They look like a team playing the second of afternoon back-to-backs, with travel in between. This is a rough part of the schedule. It doesn't matter if the team they are playing is Chicago.

Backlund with the right idea at the end there, need more of those plays. Get guys in front and get pucks from the side wall or from behind the net out front, use the point shot as a last resort if there is absolutely no other choice.

You have to think that if the Flames can avoid these two points and get an important "L", faith in the team down the stretch will shrivel internally.

Yes, I was going to say that the Flames are being out worked, but really, it’s probably more of an exhaustion thing.

And this is where the lack of talent, including a real first line, really shows.

I mean, it kinda does. There isn't an excuse to getting outplayed by the 31st team. They've lost 19-4 in their last 4 games. This is bad
