The New Jersey Devils would like to announce another trade, bringing in veteran defenseman Philippe Boucher. Leaving the Devils organization are defensemen Duncan Keith and Lukas Krajicek, and AHL LW Ben Eager.

Also acquired by the Devils in the trade was AHL C Stephen Dixon, who was brought in to address the imbalance between center and wing prospects on the farm.

The Caps have pretty much solved any cap problems they might have had with this deal. It raises the cost to get Naslund, Schnieder or Nagy.

losing a top dman like Boucher is tough. However, the Capitals get two young dmen that should rerate ok. As well as a guy that will injure other teams stars in Ben Eager.

Kieth and Krajicek will step into the lineup right away.

Agreed.

Boucher is top pairing guy in my mind... OTOH Keith is going to be a solid, solid player for years to come. Good stuff.

Thanks guys - I think it's a fair deal for both sides, and I know for sure the Devils are excited to have been able to bring in some of the names we have this off-season.

Well not that it's not a bad pickup for the Devils as Boucher is a very good defenceman, but thats a really nice return for the Capitals considering they had to move out some salary. Keith and Krajicek will be much less expensive than Boucher and Niinimaaa and won't be that much of a downgrade.

Boucher had a pretty damn good season last year in the NHL. So his rating should be much higher than Keith's even though he had a good season as well. But yeah, the caps did get a really good return.
