Wow. You and I might be on the polar ends of the spice tolerance spectrum.
I'm just going to go tuck in to some chicken nuggets covered in the recent Hot Ones sauces I got for christmas. Delicious.

No ####. I guess they figure we’re shopping at Canadian Tire for a cheap piece of junk that we’re ideal Rogers customers. “Take a hike kid, I’m just getting this $20 BBQ cover and then I’m getting the heck out of here as fast as possible. Oh hey, that lady over there looks friendly [disappear]”

Its just the way it is.
I remember one time in San Francisco I ate some complimentary nuts that were on the table while waiting for our drinks not knowing there were dried spicy peppers in them.
I was about a second away from throwing myself into the goddamned Bay while my wife was popping those bastards like they were tic-tacs.

When Locke comes over for a burger, you have to remember to ask if the cheese is too spicy for him.

I hate most things about Canadian Tire: the staff, the checkouts, the return process, often ridiculous prices, online inventory often being wrong, etc
But, it's proabably my favourite collection of junk ever assembled in one store. It's a toy store. Automotive toys, home improvement toys, kids toys, sports toys, camping toys, kitchen toys, garden toys. Something about all that in the same place while not being a gargantuan hive of villainy and scum (like Walmart) makes it one of the only B&M stores I actually enjoy going to...until I have to check out or need any staff assistance.
London Drugs is in a similar vein with different offerings and a better overall service vibe.

Their “find my item” feature in the app is pretty cool. I decided the ideal time to break our kitchen scale was right in the middle of Christmas baking, so found the replacement my wife wanted, went to the store, and it wasn’t in the scale section. Clicked the button and the bin label at the other end of the aisle starts flashing. Didn’t have to ask for help, hit the self check out. So easy! Out of the dog house in under an hour (50mins of driving).

LD is probably my favourite Canadian chain. Apart form all the basics, they always have a great mix of tech gadgets, random things like vinyl records, you can still get film processed, and certain locations are Apple authorized dealers so you can get your computer fixed by old-school nerds. Plus all the staff are relatively knowledgeable about what they sell.
It's much preferred over boring old Shoppers.

I miss the Beltline London Drugs. I bought my first plasma TV there, and camera gear, a microwave, PS3, and more things than I can count.
I also liked that they had hard to find snacks from other countries like Tim Tams and Jaffa Cakes. They really had an incredible inventory. About the only thing I didn’t buy there was drugs.

Or swapping them with the same brand and mixing them up before the swap...

Canadian Tire is almost unrecognizable to what it was 10-15 years ago. I actually like shopping there now that it doesn't resemble a frantic, overstuffed Dollar Store. The two locations in Red Deer have been renovated in the last decade and are quite bright, beautiful stores.
They also have the single best website to shop from, bar none. Near real-time updates on stock availability, and it tells you exactly where to find an item at any given location.

Yeah, I have a specific system for coin batteries when I do my car keys with to avoid this now. Like I'll have to set aside or mark the dead one before punching the new one through the blister package to avoid mix up. At least even if I mess up it's like $15 for 4-12 sleeve on Amazon for solid brands like Panasonic and Sony vs $6-9 each at brick and mortar stores for Energizer.
My friend came to me the other day saying he pays $50-75 every few years per key at the dealership. Yeesh. That's batteries for the life of the car and a ton of change for car washes for me.
It's also crazy how infrequently frequently I use LR44 batteries. 2-4 of those at a time in ornaments, music books, toys etc. Good thing those are cheap on Amazon too.

I find the CAD tire website runs super slow. Home Depot and I think Lowes show the item location, too. Really all three websites work like crap I find, though.
