I have been talking about hockey and only responded to other people taking it personally and making stuff up. If you can't see that that is your problem.
You trying to dismiss facts before hand doesn't change what actually happened.

People who spend the entire New Years Day talking down to an entire board including the owner are miserable $&@%#.

Lies again. The original post did not specify any poster at all and you accused Bingo of being the poster he was referring to which is a nasty personal attack on the boards owner and more than ban worthy.

Nope that didn't happen at all it is clear to see and you trying to make stuff up is laughable. Again based on his post it was clear he was talking about Bingo and I defended him saying it wasn't the case at all, so it is the opposite of a personal attack was actually defending him.
And Bingo has claimed that him being the owner shouldn't impact things. Not that I defended him because he was the owner. I have shown in my time here I will treat him the same as every other poster as everyone should do when discussing hockey topics.

It was pretty damn obvious who he was talking about and it was not Bingo.

Wow.
Absolutely unreadable trash going on in several of the threads right now.
How many times can one poster reiterate that they are a pompous POS that is right about everything and everyone else is wrong about everything?

I was hoping there would be some New Year’s resolutions out there surrounding not wasting every one’s time with personal insults instead of talking about the flames. Maybe next year. It’s a testament to our flames love that the positive spirited people stay engaged on this site.

Man, the bickering is unreadable at times. Just put people on block if you can't stand particular posters - no need to call a POS or anything.
Back on topic, I don't think Treliving could realistically be dinged for the Markstrom deal either. He was coming off some great seasons, is a big bodied guy, so had the markings of someone who'd be decent for a long time. Treliving could be blamed for a ton more - Hamonic, Lucic/Neal, Kadri, Huberdeau (extension), etc., because each of those there was noticeable arguments to be made at the time as to how bad it could be. Treliving drank his own Kool-Aid and when he wanted someone he would have to get them which is why he paid the price he did with Hamonic and select others. Anyway, happy the Flames and him separated. The jury is out on Conroy but Treliving is messing the Leafs, so that's good.

The problem with putting him on block is someone one will always engage with him and we will still see his quoted bs. It would be so much easier if he got the boot.

That feature doesn't work when everyone is quoting the attention seeking #### disturber. Needs to be nipped in the bud.

There are Flames moves in the past that haven't worked out, where the hockey world was universally in love with the deal (Huberdeau, Jokinen, Bouwmeester). You can't criticize them after the fact for stuff no one sees coming.
It's the deals where are warning flags (like Neal) that you can proudly say you saw it coming, but otherwise, it's hall just hindsight quarterbacking.

That's one thing I wish could be changed with the forum.

I'm not imposing on anyone what to do or not to do, but if everyone just sticks to hockey talk and logical arguments, with a breather first, perhaps we can all live peacefully on here. Personally only one person has come close to me blocking them but I haven't yet, as I want different views (though sometimes it's hard). Anyway, I just think if everyone takes a breather it'll all simmer down a bit.

They'd just come back as another name. Just ignore them. Block, skim over, do whatever. Eventually they'll get bored when no one feeds and it won't matter what name they use.

Signing James Neal was an error. Thinking the team needed a proven goalscorer with size to complement Gaudreau and Monahan wasn't necessarily a mistake.
Trading for Hamonic was a mistake. Thinking the team needed another solid defenceman who wasn't highly paid, to compliment Hamilton, Gio and Brodie was not necessarily an error.

Treliving's biggest weakness was also the reason why so many people liked him at the time. He was quickly in on everything every time. If someone was available or willing to sign, he was on it. I don't think he understands the concept of opportunity cost. Sometimes it worked out and sometimes it didn't. In total, it was probably a wash in terms of what worked and what didn't, but had a real negative effect on the flexibility of the team.
It's not that different than how Ken Holland manages his teams and it isn't sustainable. To be fair, Vegas used this approach as well and it worked, but being a recent expansion team with a clean slate of assets and few sunk costs was a huge advantage.
