PWHL rule tweaks for shorties / shootouts
So the brand new PWHL has tweaked two rules:
The first is that if a team scores a shortie, the PK ends (ie the penalty terminates).
The second is that a shooter in a shootout can go as often as the team wants (Sharky takes every shot?).
Curious what people think of these rules.
I like the first for sure...it's a bit of a double reward. Not too sure what I think of the second one. Not sure I'd like that when going against certain shooters.

First one is... wat?
Second one is perfectly fine. If it goes deep I don't want to see the fourth line center up from the farm, ol Stonehands Muckerbricker, shooting anyways.

Don't like the Shorthanded rule that makes no sense, if they were changing something with that I prefer that you keep the guy in the box for the full 2 minutes to really penalize someone for taking a penalty.
I don't love the same guy going every time either, but with the shootout being a joke already doesn't really bother me.
I read they are doing the 3-2-1 point system which is something that I would like to see though.

Not a fan of either really.
The shootout rule makes it even more gimmicky

First one is dumb. Someone who gets a penalty shouldn’t get out because a goal is scored.
Second one don’t dare because the shootout is dumb.

well, that happens now
not a fan of the second one either - I like the idea that players can only get on once in OT, and it should continue through the shootout, until everyone has gone

Not a fan of either. The PWHL should have shown how 10 minutes 3 on 3 is the way to go. No shootouts.

I like the 1st. Entice the defending team to take risks..
Impartial on the 2nd.

For a powerplay goal, not a shortie.

All I can get
|
A rotation of three shootout players per team. Hopefully, increases the probability of it not dragging on too long.
To be fair, teams should also be allowed to switch goalies.

I'd be concerned that the first one would end in powerplays (by some teams, at least) being played overly conservatively.

Imagine the Oilers if powerplays ran a full two minutes if they scored? They'd be on their backs more often than Mia Khalifa.

I don't mind either of these.
On the shootout, I'd prefer there be a minimum number of shooters rule rather than just one player over and over -- so, something like 5 unique shooters must go before you can repeat one and you can't have the same shooter take two shots in a row.

I wonder if trailing teams with late powerplays will avoid pulling the goalie if they are up a man. No sense giving up that man advantage for an EN goal against?

Really like the first one, not a shoot out fan so can take or leave the second one.

Don't care for the second one as it might give certain teams an unfair advantage.

I like the PK goal cancelling out the penalty. I suggested this in one of the offseason discussions.

I don’t see the point behind a shorty canceling the penalty, nor do I think it will alter the game much. As for a repeat shooter going, good, get the shoot out over as fast as possible.
I would’ve liked to see something a bit differently and more drastic. For example if the game is tied after the first whistle after the 10:00mark of the third, go to 3vs 3 then. Also serving the full penalty if a ppg is scored makes mores sense then a shorty cancelling the penalty.
Did anyone watch today? How did I it look?
