Unfortunately it is a move that fits perfectly if your goal is to retool and keep fighting for 8th and not build a team that can compete.

I'd be surprised if there are many GMs looking to go long on Lindholm at this point. His play this year has hurt his valuation considerably. I think most GMs are going to be gun shy, 2-3 year contract max. So I don't think an sign and trade deal is gonna happen, which is a bummer for the Flames.

Flip him to the Oilers for a 1st.

No contest between Holtz and McLeod, take the young player with more upside.

Outside of points he leads in every category over Lindholm. 1. That's how crap Lindy has been and 2. McLeod is a great piece for any team to add and if the Flames are retooling, that's a brilliant addition.
Weird take for a 25 yrs old that has career high 9 goals and 26 pts on a high scoring team.

I'll recommend they stunt cast someone cool for you though.

I do like MacLeod- he’s got size, excellent defensive acumen, does alot of the dirty work, and can really skate. I don’t see any offensive upside though, and he’s getting older. If it’s between McLeod, or a player like Holtz- take Holtz every time. He’s been sneaky good this year, and is primed to turn a corner. You have to give to get, and if the Devs don’t want to give him up, let’s see what other teams are willing to give up. We have good chips on the table.

The only ppl who've brought up Holtz has been CP. Yeah Holtz would be better but the smoke on the last 2 pages has been about Mike McLeod moving, not Holtz.

Obviously the younger RHS player is preferred, that's off point though. Ppl ask why would CGY want McLeod. The answer is pretty clear if you look.

Center depth isn't great, you're gearing up to move the only RHS C because he isn't re signing, you need to replace that players PK , face off and 200ft play. All of which McLeod does. Who cares if he's 26. Why is that so important, that's still young even in today's game.

GMs need to not only consider if they want a player but if it makes sense with where your team is and it clearly did not. Now we are potentially stuck with a guy who we would be better off trading and we got one play-off series win for it and multiple non-play-off seasons? Not a great return.
They won a division title with him in net.

Silly comment.

I supposed he is fine but McLeod is you get what you see. That’s the age factor.

No problem getting him as he is not the main piece for Lindholm or Hanifin.

There has been leaks out of NJ before of whose off the table like Mercer, I have never heard that about Holtz. I have heard before he feels buried in their depth chart though. I know you like McLeod but I just don't see it.

You don't have to see it.

How many people saw Sharangovich as a steal in the deal?

A few but not many. If he comes to CGY in a deal, ppl will moan and then turn their opinions around when they actually see what he can do on the ice in their jersey. He's a good player.

And we need good centers.

I for one will be just as keen on seeing McLeod play for CGY as I was when we got Sharky.

TBH, I'd much rather McLeod over Mangiapane, Dube, Ruzicka or Dueher. I think he's better than all of em.

Who would the devils want to pry holtz away from them? Signed hanifin? Lindholm or tanev isn’t going to do it .

Ah, good. Others have noticed! You will go into the film as "Guy who notices other guy spends all his time disagreeing with Blaster"

Unfortunately you'll be a smaller actor. I assume the budget won't have unlimited money set aside for stunt casting.

A 26-year-old who never broken 30 pts? We can go sign someone to fill this role. We don't need to spend assets to do so. The Flames have zero elite players right now. They're going to need as many picks as they can get to try and find some top end skill. We're not building a contender taking on another team's 3rd liners.

He kind of strikes me as Derek Ryan when he was in his prime. A nice bottom 6, but not someone you sell your best assets for.

Yes your comment is very silly. Division titles with no play-off success isn’t impressive. If that’s why we signed him that is even more dumb than originally thought.
