Not titling this thread “Much Ado About Huberdeau” is a big miss.

This kind of statement cracks me up. What does it mean? You were excusing him before? And now if he still doesn't perform, then what, since he has "no more excuses"?
A stern letter to CSEC? No allowance for a week? A paddling?

He is what he is at this point, and I think anyone paying attention has given up on making excuses. If we're lucky, he adapts his game and becomes a $10.5 million Lucic rather than a $10.5 million Neal.

Because some posters still suggest that he is adjusting to a new system.

Wait...is this seriously on the table? We need to talk about this.

Name one. I’ve seen people say the system isn’t optimal for his style. I haven’t seen anyone saying he has to “adjust”.
But that wasn’t really the point. I just laugh at people who say “he has no more excuses” or “inexcusable” like there’s some sort of consequence - like saying that stuff matters at all.

Go to page 1 of this thread and people were talking about it.
Now that we have tried 2 coaches, that argument is kind of out the window.

How bout we talk about arguments being made now instead of straw men. And the quote was “he had no more excuses”. Show me Huberdeau making excuses.

Didn’t realize there was a statute of limitations on the substance of an argument having been made. It was an interesting theory at the time, but we did the coaching change and have the same results for the team and worse results for Huberdeau.
At least Huberdeau isn’t making excuses! He knows he has it in him! He’s got to look in the mirror and be a better player! He’s just gotta show it on the ice!
No one wants to hear those platitudes anymore. Have a 20 game stretch like Kadri and this thread will die. I was one of the biggest complainers about Kadri but he’s playing at a high level now. So, good for him.

The quote was “no more excuses”. That poster makes a cameo appearance in many threads with a one liner like that. But “no more excuses” can be interpreted as being tired of fans making excuses for Huberdeau.
When does any hockey player make excuses? Do you think you can find anyone saying something like, “Yeah, I’d easily have 30 assists by now but Lindholm and Coleman just can’t score! Not my fault at all!”
They’ll never say that. So that’s kind of a straw man itself.

Well, Mike Smith was kind of known for making excuses. But in general, you're right.

He did say he was unhappy last season. Hard to figure out what's up with Huberdeau, might have to leave that one to management. They watch the game tapes and can't talk to him at any time.. His play right now is probably the best thing in terms of acquiring a high draft pick.

Honestly? Huberdeau's 'Happiness' is rapidly falling down my list of things to GAF about.
When I go to work nobody cares if I'm 'happy' about it, just that I do it well.

Um. No. Of course not.
I'd let 20,000 people boo me all day every day for, what...~$70M?
Have at 'er.
