Because he’s the QB on the best team in football - has lost his TE1 and 2 most skilled RB- and destroyed /outdueled Goff and Purdy
Ravens vs Dolphins nextweek might decide MVP
But I would give to CMC personally

They have one of the best defences in the league and he's not even top 10 in any QB stats or rushing for QB.
Just don't see how he's in the race. It's about numbers and flashy plays.
I'd say CMC as well but it's a QB league.
Even Josh Allen has a lot of turnovers.

How is Goff in it? Loses the stat battle to Tua, Dak, Purdy. Loses the eye test battle to any QB in the league.
I think it has to be one of Jackson, Dak, Allen or Purdy depending on what you value more but probably is a year to look at an no -QB.

Narratives win MVP, Lamar has the same clear path Purdy had coming into tonight, win the remaining games and it's yours. Tua has the same. Josh needs help, Dak won't even win his own division so I can't see a legit MVP case there. McCaffrey's stock went up, he's the only 49er now who can win MVP, but he needs the most help as a non-QB.

We have also seen the Ravens without Lamar the last two years
When he plays the Ravens are the best winning % ever for a QB? (He goes back and forth with Maholmes)
When he doesn’t they basically don’t win - as evidenced the last 2 years
He’s not the best player in the NFL - but it’s night and day when he plays .
It’s like when Peyton Manning missed a year and the colts went 1-15 and everyone realized he probably should be the MVP every season
Lamar is that valuable to the Ravens
That all being said - I would give to CMC because even tonight he was at worse the 2nd most valuable player on the field and the only player who could do anything vs the Ravens

The MVP has been on one of the conference's #1 seed for eight years in a row, and if you go back the last 15 years there's only been two MVPs who didn't get the #1 seed (AP in 2012 and Rodgers in 2014). So it's basically going to be the QB of whoever gets the #1 seed, probably in the AFC. Crazy they didn't flex Ravens-Dolphins and we're stuck with Packers-Vikings next week.

I get it. But he has 24 total TD. Josh Allen has 40. Dak has 32.
He may be the best player on the best team but it doesn't feel like a MVP season when you look at numbers for other guys.
CMC has 21.
