Based on these discussion, people are going to be severely disappointed. The prospects are going to be the Schwind, Heinman or Agostino type. Nobody, not even desperate contenders are going to trade their top prospects like Nemec and Holtz

Please Conroy tell these teams to keep their goddamn prospects that they deem expendable.
We don't want Reto Berra's, Mark Cundari's and the like.
Just take picks instead.
Lindholm to X team for a 1st, 2nd, 2nd for example.

I know some people call those magic beans… but I agree a bit with this. The flames have proven themselves capable as a drafting and developing team so I would prefer that they get the chance to do that with picks rather than get B-level prospects. Especially if they can avoid targeting the high-floor/low-ceiling players with those picks. Obviously if teams are offering A-level prospects, that’s a different story. But it’s rare for teams to offer guys like that in trades for a rental player.

What about Iginlas, Foxes, Filip Forsbergs, Peter Forsbergs, Voraceks, Charas?

I think those are all prospects who had high expectations and were treated as such when they were traded. They weren’t just thrown into trades.

Chara was. But moreover, I don’t think anyone is talking about just tossing these guys in. They’d be a big part of the package, just like Peter Forsberg was.

Thank God we've got Flamesfan05 here to keep us grounded!
Whenever I am feeling positive about anything, I like to come to CP and read posts from people who are here to remind us all that unbridled pessimism and misery is the only path to salvation! Having positive thoughts about the team that you root for is unproductive, and frankly, dangerous!
Keep up the good work, people!

Like Bingo said, he does god's work.

I think the consensus here is about right regarding Lindholm and Tanev's valuation around the league. My concern is that the field of available players will start to get crowded and it will become a bit more of a buyer's market.
Between how the team is playing, the emergence of kids and all the trade buzz around the Flames, the balance of the season is going to be lots of fun.

Kypreos and Rob Ellis have ignited some speculation that the Sens might consider trading Jakob Chychrun. Remember, I’m just the messenger.

Really? 22 points in 28 games, with a good two-way presence….

I thought it was a Nobel idea before he went to Ottawa. Made sense and still does given the teams lack of long term defensemen. But I'm also not enamored by the oft injured fella

I 100% agree. Teams almost never trade good prospects, especially not for UFAs. I'd rather get a later pick than some teams 8th best prospect. But that being said teams probably also prefer to give up those guys than picks so it might be tough.

If the flames do dump their pending UFAs I wonder if some of the picks will be deliberately a year or two out.
Eg they get a 2025 1st. It remains an asset in play for near 2 summers in case a Debrincat ish RFA option comes up. It may seem disappointing but if the pick is this year they have to make it and hope maybe they have a player in ~2027

Well, nonflamesfan05 does have a point in that its rare for a team to give up a top prospect for a player - they tend to prefer to trade draft picks instead. Even Meier only got a guy who was late 1st (Makhamadulin sp?)
Although the Wild got Brock Faber and a 1st for Kevin Fiala, so it's certainly possible.

Faber was former 2nd round draft pick, not a top prospect.

He was a former second rounder but he was certainly consdiered a top prospect at the time of the trade, iirc. But I could be wrong.
