Nah, they aren’t.

Players can be earning their contract and the market still dictates their value.

How are you not understanding this? I've been following this back and forth and it is amazing that you can't understand the simple concept of comparing player production and salary to determine if they are living up to their contract.

Either just trolling or they can’t differentiate between trade value and contract value. Mangiapane will get a 3rd or something next deadline even if he doesn’t out want his contract. Hopefully he goes on a tear in a contract year and ups his value

The minute Huberdeau is traded, he will at least double his scoring output for the new team.

And whoever Calgary is getting back, you can automatically take at least 50% off his projected production.

This is Calgary Flames hockey...

You know when you buy an expensive fruit cup and expect its going to be filled with strawberries and pineapples and blackberries and all the best fruit? And then you get the fruit cup. And it's basically like 90% honeydeau? Not only is the honeydeau filled fruit cup massively overpriced, it ruins the fruit cup. And eating it would be a complete waste of stomach space. It's just the worst.

As time goes by, Huberdeau can perhaps be easily more traded. Simply because there will be other comparably bad contracts thee Flames can take on with shorter terms than the 8 years remaining he currently has.

Is it 10 games now with no points?

They were talking about who sits when Pelletier comes back. If you’re not looking at salaries I’d probably pick Huberdeau. He’s the biggest underperformer. Ruzicka and Dube right on his heels.

Let's say that huderdeau's decline is consistent.

115
55
37 ( on track this year)

next year he will have what 19 points?

The odds of him finishing his contract is smaller and smaller.

Would have to be a real injury for him to get on LTIR and insurance to pay his contract. Buyout does nothing and the deal isn’t front loaded, so no incentive for Huberdeau to call it quits until this contract is done.

Trade Dube or (preferably) Mang for Duclair already

I’m not even sure how you phonetically decided on that specific version of incorrect spelling of honeydew. That’s aside from the fact that you’re almost definitely talking about cantaloupe.

I just don't undertsand why people persist in these weird fantasies about him quitting because he's not producing. Hell, even being a healthy scratch isn't going to happen (nor should it).

SJ has no need to do anything; they're in tank mode anyway.
They see the desperation around Huberdeau and would probably want a ransom back for Duclair.
Why help a divisional team figure out their issues?

His shot isn’t particularly remarkable.

He’s had 20 assists once - TJ Brodie had 20+ apples six times between age 22-28.

His 36 goal season was a complete anomaly that was the result of playing Covid-depleted rosters and AHL goalies far more often than he otherwise would have.

Is he earning his money now? Sure.

Is he going to ever be worth what it would cost to extend him?

Not a chance.

Sell. Sell. Sell.
This really isn't fair.

Firstly, Managiapane has played 4 full time season. He's gotten more than 30 points in all of those season, including 2 Covid shortened seasons. He's had 20 more assists the last 2 seasons and is well above that pace now. He paced above 20 assists during both covid shortened seasons too.

I do agree that his 35 goal season was likely an anamoly. Likely do to finding amazing chemistry with his linemates. However, Mangiapane is likely a 15-25 goal scorer and 40-50 point player.

If the Flames can get good assets for Mangiapane, they should look at moving him. He's not a bargain at his current contract, and re-upping him on anything but a big discount, at his age, would be a big mistake.

I remember how many people were upset that Treliving only signed eat bread for 3 years. He won't move this season, but I don't think he will be a Flame by the time the 25-26 season starts.
