You can talk shot placement all you want, but Markstrom's positioning was excellent, and he made the saves when tested. I thought he played the same way he did last game - tight. He was quiet, efficient, and solid positionally, not putting himself out of position with too much lateral movement. Let's give credit where it's due - Markstrom has been fantastic the last two games.

Also, hilarious and fitting that he posted his first shutout of the season with Butterfly in the building!

Another great game from Greer. He is on pace for 15G, 10A, 25P. That is NOT replaceable-4th-line-guy numbers. And he is doing it on less than 9 minutes a night.

He is more productive than Pospisil, Dube and Ruzicka. And he has a better P/60 than Huberdeau, Mangiapane and Backlund.

And he plays hard every shift, every game, and stands up for his team-mates. All at league minimum.

Let's trade him for a 4th!

Yep.they definitely should. It's called selling high.

There are other vets to lead.

there are plenty of players to trade - trade the ones that get a good return. You need to keep some vets, and no one is more valuable per cap hit for that role, relative to their return value in trade, than Greer.

Sell everything! Is just idiotic fan mantra.

Regarding Huberdeau passing on that play...

He already had what - 7 shots in the game? Or was it 10? He was shooting from everywhere. He had a chance to make a play and he took it, unfortunately, Ruzicka couldn't handle the pass. As someone said in the GT, if that was Sharangovich, it's probably a goal and we're all praising the play.

But some of you are so insistent on trashing everything he does, that you can't look objectively at him at all.

Huberdeau had a good game last night, and if he keeps playing like that, he'll break out of his current funk.

He had 15 mins of ice time. No goals. No assists. 6 shots.

I mean, for $10.5M, I wouldn't say that's necessarily a good game. But the apologists are gonna apologize one way or another I guess.

Oiler fans mocking our tank effort when that same effort is better than their push for the cup sure is something.

We can assess, based entirely on stats, or we can objectively watch, and consider things like effort, luck, good saves, etc.

Or, we can call people who don't agree with us apologists.

Not to get into it here, and tonight was a very good outcome, but I am always more concerned when the Flames play poor teams than good ones. I felt they would step up to the competition. They need to play at that level against ALL teams, then they may have something.

Walker Deuhr looked amazing last year. I remember when Tim Jackman scored 10 on the 4th line. Selling high on a 4th line guy playing on a heater is exactly what the Flames should do. Let’s not make the Lance Bouma mistake all over again

lol I don't think there is a strong camp of Huberdeau apologists. Everyone knows he sucks. It does get a bit tiresome to read the same post over over again about he sucks like it is some kind of zinger or got yah

The apologist label is one of the more annoying one people use. It’s lazy and often inaccurate

The Flames need to stockpile picks, not overperforming, older 4th liners who were picked off waivers.

I'm going with True Believers, it's more positive sounding.
Actually, let's call them Hue Believers

I agree. I was pretty worried during their start of the season slide that they might be unwatchable this year. But they work really hard and a lot of new young players who look like they are turning into something. Sharongovich, Zary, Pospisil ect

A goal scorer and production from the powerplay would be a quantum leap for this team.
