Who's apologizing for Huberdeau's performance? Really? I think every single Flames fan would conclude he's been a massive disappointment so far. The thing is that he's not going anywhere and bitching about him daily in this thread isn't going to change the fact that he's going to be a Flame for a long time, like it or not.

He is clearly trying, its just super annoying people watch games just to see what mistake he will make, what pass he misses.

I think everyone can see he is a broken player, complaining about every play, everything he does won't fix that.

He either turns it around, or he doesn't. Not much more can be done it seems like outside of seeing if some young players can get him going.

Should rename the thread to Huberdeau is no good.

We really shouldn't.

If he quit on us and had a bad attitude sure.

The on ice sucks, but he is still involved off ice.

Meh - I just made an offhand comment about how I thought the PO performance was overglorified. It wasn't taken well.

I generally agree that this subject has been talked out though. I'd just like to give all the Huberdeau stuff a rest. It's been beaten to death.

I think Huberdeau needs to start shooting everything and eventually that will open back up the passing game. I know he is an elite passer and I know that is his natural extinct but he can probably score in bushels because of the room they will give him defending the pass.

Huberdeau needs to stop throwing blind passes up the middle of the ice. I don't care if he is all of the sudden a 40 point player, but atleast he shouldn't be a liablity.

Totally agree. Coaches should tell him to shoot on every odd man rush for the next 5 games.

How about "Safe Space to Complain about Huberdeau"

I wouldn't go that far just yet. But "The Woes of Jonathan Huberdeau" is certainly in order.

Completely take the reigns off of him defensively. He needs to start cheating to create offense. I can't think of a single time he has flown the zone this year, and just watching Tkachuk last night there was numerous time's that he did so which created opportunities the other way.

Teams are no doubt game planning around his struggles and specifically when he receives the puck while he's stationary (especially on zone exits/entries). He doesn't have the confidence to make those little passes while under pressure that he's accustom to making and teams know that.

Huska currently has Zary and Kadri eating all of the offensive zone starts. Put him with them and see what happens. Mangiapane is also clearly better with Backlund/Coleman anyways, and Pospisil offers value to any line he's played on.

It's reasonably likely that Greg Millen has called him that at least once.

They mentioned this exact thing during the broadcast last night. Statistically when Huberdeau shoots more, he gets more points. Goalies and defense are always expecting him to pass, so it is predictable and they can block lanes and cut off the passes.

Everyone has been saying he needs to shoot more, including Huberdeau. That's why it is so perplexing that he just doesn't do it. Just do it! Make your dreams come true!

Reminds me so much of the Tanguay conversations we use to have, just the shoot more vs. pass telegraph...not the rest of it.

I think Bennett was referring to the fact that in Calgary you have the media attention cranked up, and everywhere you go in public you know everyone recognizes you and is well aware you aren't performing. I'm sure some people have difficulties not keeping that to themselves, as well.

In Florida, you get to disappear into relative anonymity between games and take a mental break from the game.

Some people have the ability to overcome the pervasive attention easier than others. I'm sure it's miserable for some people.

Two things that never changes with the Flames that you can see a mile away:

1.) Huberdeau passing
2.) Andersson with the bump back pass on the pp.

Agreed there. A ten game moratorium on Huberdeau’s discussion would be nice, then we can look back at how he played over that span. Right now, every little thing is getting dissected.

Well, Gaudreau just had a better first period against Buffalo than any period Huberdeau has played as a Flame
