Yes, I suspect that the report that he isn't happy, is somewhat stale. Since that line was put together, he has been on a tear and basically playing at a point-per-game pace. And he looks to be having fun, and is playing with energy.
First 10 games of the year, as well as through the summer: I would assume that he was very unhappy.
Now: I would guess that everything is good.

It also doesn’t really matter. Pretty hard contract to move if wants to end up on a real contender

There is nothing wrong with people saying they heard different things. It makes for interesting discussion.

If competing is what matters to him not sure him playing great has that much impact on it.
I guess it is better to be playing good on a non-contender than playing bad but it doesn't seem like he wants to be racking up points on a non-play-off team at this point in his career, if the reports are true.

NYR is an interesting name on that hasn't been put out there before. Still have a 1st and great prospects like Othmann or Gabe Perrault that they could work with. Problem is they are EXTREMELY tight cap wise, so we would have to take a dump (Lindgren?) and potentially retain for them to fit Hanifin in.
But Hanifin (50%) for 1st + Perrault + Lindgren would be an absolute homerun.
It's even more interesting if they're looking to trade K'Andre Miller. But IMO they keep him if they're going all in.

Ryan Lindgren is one of the best defensive D in the league. Not a cap dump.

Calgary would rather trade each player separately to maximize value. A team would have to blow their socks off to get 2 of the players in one trade.
Lindholm has a lot of suitors. Teams like that he can play C or RW. And he can win draws and jump onto any teams PK. I feel like this will go right down to the TDL unless a team coughs up exactly what the Flames want for him in the next few months.
The NYR are a sneaky team calling about D. I can see them snagging Hanifin (my gut feeling).
Tanev's stock keeps rising. He can play top 4, plus be the first over the boards on the PK. He's a warrior and the exact type of player teams want going into the playoffs.
Toronto wants players but won't pay the price for them. Keep kicking those tires Tre.

I think the Flames were a choice destination. He still had other options, like the NYI, but he was clearly waiting for a playoff team to clear some cap space. Obviously, he would've preferred re-signing with COL, but if I recall correctly they only had $5-5.5M they could spend on Kadri.
I could see a team like the Flames being a top 5 choice at the time. A great team on paper, lots of regular season success under the reigning Jack Adams winner in Sutter, very good D, and a top goalie.

I wouldn't go as far as calling him the best defensive D, because of the likes of Toews, but he's pretty good. He was absolutely great playing with Fox last year, that's one of the reasons why I don't think NYR would want to upgrade the position.

Frankly I had never heard of Lindgren but that figures. With that in mind, the rumor doesn't make sense; NYR doesn't need to upgrade their 6th D position at the cost it would take.

Bonus points if they can get one for Tanev too.
If you can get any sort of pick for Duehr or Greer you take the picks and run.
|
Unless you have intel that Greer doesn't want to be here why on earth do you want a pick for him? He's an awesome teammate and perfect in the bottom six, give him $1.2m and get rid of the useless $2.3m Dube.

Greer is a replacement level veteran who does nothing for the long term of this franchise. If the flames turn a waiver pickup into a 3rd rounder that would be great asset management. I feel like Greer is this years Duehr. Playing excellent but ultimately not a core piece. Let’s get as many Wranglers up here as possible after the deadline and move every UFA that has value for futures. As many futures and cap space as possible going into the offseason is ideal

Chytil seems like a more likely cap dump if they are trying to fit in Hanifin. Hell they should go all in and dump Chytil, Kakko, Perrault and a 1st and get a half priced Hanifin and Lindholm.

It does seem like there could be a decent number of teams interested in Lindholm and/or Hanifin.
Here’s my guess at the potential list as I see it right now.
Lindholm: Boston, New York, Carolina, Washington, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Denver, and Winnipeg.
Hanifin: Boston, New York, Detroit, Dallas, Phoenix, and Toronto.
There could be other teams interested but those are teams that I think could really use each player and should be buyers at the deadline. There are teams outside the playoff picture that could definitely use Hanifin/Lindholm but, at this point, they might not be buyers at the deadline.

Based purely on need:
I could see MIN, WPG, and PHI as potential dark horses for Lindholm.
I could see TBL, and NJD as dark horses for Hanifin.

Douglas “Dougie” Hamilton out on LTIR until playoffs. Lots of space for a Tanev or Hanifin for a slightly used Alexander Holtz or Dawson Mercer:

I’m trying to think of the alternatives for teams looking at getting a centre like Lindholm? I think Monahan is the best option at the moment but there might be others that become available as more teams drop out of playoff contention.

Kuzmenko a healthy scratch again tonight. That doesn't mean he is going to be traded at any point, but I wonder if he could be a good buy-low player for some teams. Personally, I would take him.
