A quote like that literally takes away all the space a player needs to gain confidence and learn on the job.

Think I saw a Staples quote lauding it as excellent coaching, but it's literally an old school, unsafe work environment.

Just the WORST kind of coaching. A good coach deflects pressure away from the players (when speaking publicly)

Coaching implies making your players better, just threatening to replace them (which they cant) isnt coaching, its BS.

I think that this little gem that Gaskal found and put into last night's ATL belongs here, too.

Oilers 1-11-1 when scoring 3 goals or fewer. Need to outscore the goaltending and defense every night. Not good.

Points all still remain on the tone deafness as mentioned above (and as per below, there's a reason he hasn't been a coach above midget level prior), but it looks like the original question posed was "Are you too nice of a guy to be a coach?" or something along those lines...to which Coffey got his back up on, clearly..

And he's also taking issue with the underlying subtext of that question, that becuase he hasn't been a high level coach anywhere, that he shouldn't be in the role.

I just want to thank Sportsnet for last night. Not only did they show us the Flames win, they were nice enough to switch over when our game was over so we could watch the Oilers lose to Matthew Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers.

Yup, they haven't really gained much ground at all. They would likely need another 8 game winning streak in order to leapfrog the teams ahead of them, which I don't see happening unless they continue to face backup goaltenders and tired teams on back to backs.

I'll admit I was a little worried there for a second during their heater. But it's been glorious watching that all come crashing down over these last two losses. Just hilarious.

That doesn't sound like blocks, stick checks and positional plays to me.

Sound like a dude deliriously spewing "offense! offense! offense!" regardless of the player's position.

Is it any wonder they're not sitting on multiple cups already?

Imagine if that organization was even semi competent.

I said in the PGT last night. I turned the Oilers game on after the Flames game ended, to see the Oilers Playing McDavid and Draisaitl together with 4 minutes left in the game down 5-1. They were both out there cherry picking trying to earn Mcpoints. McDavid was out there to finish off the game. Can you imagine it he got hurt in the last minute of a 5-1 loss because he was out there trying to pad his personal stats.

I guess there are no other skaters on the team who can "make plays".
