I think the Hitmen felt there’d be too much pressure playing in a town where his dad became a legend. Also I read that Joe expressed a desire to play in Edmonton. I don’t have the link.

Joe will make his WHL debut tonight whereas it's looking more and more like Kosick might be heading to the BCHL, based on some stuff I've heard from a couple scouts. But it's still pretty early.

21 instead of 12.

Heard somewhere that he is the more skilled of the two brothers, interested to see how he does.

In a family rife with interesting names, 'Joe' seems pretty mundane.

I hope he sneaks into the Oilers dressing room and pisses on McDavid's stall every chance he gets.

This image is blasphemous. Destroy it.

Ridiculous miss by the Hitmen not to take Iginla and let him go to the OK the very next pick. Just stupid.

Where was Iginla ranked? Was it a ridiculous miss or were the OKs so focused on doing something provocative that they picked Joe way higher than his ranking?

EDIT: I see that Kosik, whio the Hitmen picked at 11, was ranked #5 (but slid due to NCAA concerns).

If they felt another player was better then it was the right decision
You draft the player not the name

I think you make an exception to save an Iginla from Edmonton.

You cant put a price on that.

We owe him that much.

Only If they can convince the player not to go the college route, I guess we’ll see.

On the other hand the Flames rarely draft Hitman so I don’t know.

Right but they would have weighed those risks as part of the decision

I do wonder if Iginla would have wanted the Hitmen to draft his kids.

It's a lot of added pressure for his kids in Calgary.

One thing to have to deal with that pressure in the NHL, and really if you're a 1st round pick in the NHL you're going to have pressure no matter what.

But no real upside to have your kids have to deal with that pressure when they are 16 and 17 years old in the WHL.
